Has anyone been able to get LotusNotes 4.6 working on Linux? I been looking
for more info on how to set it up and tried a few without luck. Any
suggestions? Thanks.

Hey there fellow *nix users,
I just moved to Hawaii from Maine, about a week ago, and am already
starving for some tech-based excitement. Back there, I was part of a
group of young men who were very interested in *nix, computer and
electronic hardware and modification thereof, gaming, web
Hi,
Can someone tell me the various languages and compilers that they use to
write programs for Linux?
Thanks,

They are migrating toward R6, but its a school by school process so I don't
expect to be upgraded soon. I hear R6 is really nice though.

Michael,
Do you have, can you get or is there such a thing as Lotus Notes Client
4.6 for Linux? I know that there's some Domino(server) software for
Linux.

I've got a laptop I want to set up for both work and home. At home I'm
running roadrunner, at work I have an ip address for it. Am I right in
thinking that to get this to work I need to set up 2 network devices,
one for home, one for work, and then activate the device on boot?
Thanks,
It would likely just be easiest to switch around the network
configuration every time you move. It takes about thirty seconds.
RoadRunner uses a DHCP on their end, to give you an IP, so that's
automatic. At work, you said you have a static IP, so you'd just have
to enter that, and bring the
Hi everyone,
If you can help me that would be nice.
I try to start up Mysql on my computer but it keeps giving me this error.

Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/tmp/mysql.sock' exists!

Oh man. I know I've solved that problem a few times, but I can't
remember for the life of me.
It sounds like the server is not running. Did you make sure that it
is? Is there a file called /tmp/mysql.sock?
Can you check to see what it says in /var/yourhostname.err, or
wherever mysql is logging?
I had this same issue a few years ago. Just write
a shell script that will bring up an interface
with dhcp at home and bring up a specific IP
when you are at work. So when you get home you
type './net home' or at work './net work'. It
worked like a charm. You don't need 2 seperate

I do not think a native Linux will be available. It
was mentioned
at Lotus World that a Linux Notes client will be

iNotes supports Mozilla. (By the end of the year,
maybe?)
The no native Linux is correct except that an iNotes
client is available (see 2 below).

Hi,
It sounds like mysqld is not running based on your description.
Are you sure the mysqld process running? I usually check this by doing a
'ps aux' to see what processes are running. mysqld needs to be running for
you to be able to use mysql.
I can start this process manually by running

Usually those error messages mean your mysql daemon isn't running, or it
is running and the default socket location was changed. I don't know
what the defaults are set to on
Hi James,
Somehow but with luck I was able to get it to work. Now I have to find me
some good documentation on MySQL.
By the way, has anyone gone to http://www.mysql.com lately? Are they moving
away from open source? Looks like it when I was there.

I don't think that I would be the one to organize such a thing, as I
just moved here. I'd definately help out, if you needed it, though.
What I was looking for were meetings that were a bit more educational.
