[Lubuntu-desktop] samba-common-bin & samba GUI

2010-04-23 Thread Yaroslav
Hello All.

I ask you to include package samba-common-bin to default lubuntu distibution.

I found, that samba GUI tool "system-config-samba" need this package for
correct work. Otherwise you shall
see error message "Some lines couldn't be understood while reading the
configuration file
/etc/samba/smb.conf..." and list of all lines in smb.conf.

Also, I think that such simple and useful samba GUI tool can be a part of
lubuntu distribution.

Feel free to improve it :)

You can add it as a external links, at the bottom of the section. It
could be useful but it's not specific to Lubuntu.

No, but I think Mario planned to add a forum section on lubuntu.net.
Also, maybe a section in LXDE forum could be a solution ?

Feel free to report a bug for this : type "ubuntu-bug lubuntu-desktop"
in a terminal to report directly, so we can track the issue on the bug
tracker, and there no risk to lost it on the mailing list :)

[Lubuntu-desktop] Hardware Detection ?

2010-04-23 Thread Glen Bizeau
I installed Lubuntu and ubuntu 10.4B on the same laptop, Ubuntu 10B
detected and installed the hardware drivers for the system, Lubuntu
did not, even after I started Jockey manually, no HW detection.

Anyone else notice this?

Thanks

Glen

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] multi screen support & docs

2010-04-23 Thread Phillip Whiteside
Steve,

RandR is installed GRandR (Multiple Screens) is just a GUI front end for it
as is LXRandR (Monitor Settings)

So can i have a play with http://forum.phillw.net/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=84 and
possibly add it to the wiki area ?

Julien,

Not wishing to 'nag', but a descision on where people should post support
questions when there is not 'someone in' IRC is pretty much needed. As this
is a Lubuntu project, and from earlier discussions it was decided that it
should be held else where other than on [
http://forum.phillw.net/viewforum.php?f=18 (you'd be more than welcome to
use it). But it would be good if there was somewhere for them to ask
questions & receive answers, i feel a bit 'bad' when I post links up from
there to help an OP and not a supported forum.

As Lubuntu is staying light on the GUI stuff, I think that the manual may
come in handy as it also gives people self assurance about how Linux works
and we do use CLI for some things. I'll add it as an external link

Regards,

Phill.

There is still the ubuntuforums. With many request, we can have a
lubuntu prefix for it :)
IRC is also a solution, but it's useful only if there are people to
answer questions.

Other solution is to ask for a dedicated forum on ubuntuforums, like
Mythbuntu (http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=46).

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] multi screen support & docs

2010-04-23 Thread Phillip Whiteside
Julien, as i have said before, there is a good deal of good will from the
'guyz & galz' on the main forum area. I'll ask to what chance there is of
including a lubuntu tag so that we may find them, i will also ask for the
possibility of having a sub forum. I seen no reason as to why not, but I do
not do 'office politics'. Still, there's no harm in asking :-)

Phill.

We could run a forum as part of the lubuntu.net site. However, having it
as part of the main Ubuntu forums would be better, since we are working
towards official recognition from Canonical. A link from the lubuntu.net
site and the wiki would then suffice.

I prefer this solution, & as mentioned elsewhere, a link to it from
lubuntu.net, the wiki, etc.

I am wondering when the automatic updater will be coming to Lubuntu? I
am new to Lubuntu. I also would like to know where the Lubuntu forums
are.
