[Lubuntu-desktop] [Alpha2] Is it just me or the keyring for Lubuntu PPA is missing?
I installed the Alpha 2 version of Lubuntu Maverick, installation went fine (aside from being unable to auto-mount encrypted volume, which is another matter that I should have investigated more...). But updating the package list didn't not go so well. Because... 1) The authentication key for Lubuntu PPA was missing. 2) The address for Lubuntu PPA gave me a 404 error. I had to find the Lubuntu PPA in Google, remove the old address to Lubuntu PPA then add it again so that it would download the key and the address properly. Did anyone else had to do this to update their Lubuntu related packages? or is it a problem that only I have experienced? ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Lubuntu Maverick Alpha 1
Well...I did install Alpha with the ISO, but I used a different approach from the usual. Since I don't have a burner nearby, I extract vmlinuz and initrd.gz from the ISO and use it to mount the ISO file while booting from a USB stick with UBCD in it. http://cpbotha.net/2010/05/24/an-even-more-ultimate-boot-disk/ - This shows you how to do it. However, I *should* try using it with a proper CD and see how it goes. PS. It seems that the ISO doesn't work in Virtualbox, and interestingly enough the outcome is exactly the same as Steve's. PS2. ISO works fine when you use 'nomodeset', just as Bob suggested. I wonder why it doesn't work without it? Especially when the USB booting method that I used works okay without 'nomodeset'... PS3. I think we need to have some guideline to help figure out which area of Alpha we need to test. (it seems that https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing isn't up-to-date yet.) Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Hibernate/suspend doesn't work when closing lid
I don't know why it will not work, especially when the same function works on my MSI Wind. But I'm certain that Lubuntu also uses gnome-power-manager as its power manager. PS. You could try verbose mode of gnome-power-manager and redirect its output to a file. Do something like 'gnome-power-manager --verbose gpm.log' and see what it says. This should also be done with kernel message buffer (dmesg), as it should also have some information on what happens during suspending. If you are talking about why 'lubuntu-desktop' package would be removed when one small part of its dependency is removed, you can choose to ignore it and remove that package since it is only a meta-package that contains (literally) nothing inside it. It won't hurt other programs. Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Cleaning Lubuntu applications (part 1)
According to the application's website, parcellite: Keeps a clipboard history. Various view options to display items the way you like it. Daemon mode; guard your clipboard contents when you close applications. Global hotkeys to display your items quickly. Perform custom commands using clipboard contents. None of them seems to be essential for basic clipboard function. Personally, I never used it, and copy paste always worked as I expected.
