[Lubuntu-desktop] Marketing Team?

2012-01-18 Thread amjjawad HOOHAA
Hi Everyone,

As far as I remember, we didn't talk yet about The Marketing Team, did we?
or maybe the communication team will do the marketing job?

I see almost everything is set:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/SubTeamsand I hope things will be
finalized soon and everyone will start working on
his/her area which is GREAT :)

Thanks!

Hi Ali,

comms will be looking after that. The Art-team do the fantastic banners and
CD folder graphics along with their work on icons, themes etc. (Keeps them
out of mischief :P ).

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Marketing Team?

2012-01-18 Thread amjjawad HOOHAA
Hello Phill :)

I thought so but was in need to check :)
Oh right, it means I'm involved too as long as I'm a member of The
Communication Team :P GREAT!

Since we are talking about Marketing, I have a request or a question to
ask:
Is it possible to have T-Shirt with Lubuntu Printed on? Mugs? stuff like
that? anything I could use over here to convert people to Linux and
Lubuntu? that would be a great tool if you ask me.
I don't mind to wear that T-Shirt and walk daily and if no one will even
bother to ask, I'll talk about it :)

I have already started to talk about Linux and Lubuntu since a long time
but these days, I'm very serious to convert more people and talk more about
it.

I made this: https://www.facebook.com/WOWLubuntu but that's nothing and
won't be enough so I'm looking for person to person contact or whatever
they call it :)

I wonder if Canonical could do this? even if it's Ubuntu T-Shirts that will
do the job, I assume.

Thanks!

P.S.
I wish I could do these T-Shirts myself but that is way too much for
someone like me :P

You got my idea, I was talking about buying a distro's CD with a

by that site have all the artwork or just Lubuntu logo.

Maybe I don't really understand what you mean, but anyway I think we cannot

The 10.04 CD Wallet Images look way cooler and prettier than the 10.10s.
Maybe you can add a shiny glossy effect to them also.
Everything else seems to be fine. I like the bigger Web buttons :)

It’s better when printed to paper, except for the bottom of the '1' which looks
a bit 'odd'.

I can’t say I’m too keen on 'for PC computers' , though.

Ok, modified. It's white now, resembling 10.04 one, but a bit smoother,

have a non PC or even a PlayStation, and even mine is not a x86 CPU, so
good reason; just dotted version number).

What you’ve done is excellent. The printed version is a lot clearer and the
'1' no longer looks 'odd'.

Just the version in the bottom corner is probably the easiest, non-confusing
option. x86 is meaningless to a very large number of people and a lot of
people don’t regard laptops as PCs, only tower type systems.

Hi,
yeah, the 10.04 is okay, the previous banner was 10.04 ish? sorry to be
hogging the mailing list over this. A banner 600 x 100 px with the logo
either to left or right would be excellent, I can add the TWO lines of text
(sorry that it mentioned three in an earlier posting) I'd be looking at
having about 300 - 400px of the horizontal area to be able to put text into.
To try and sum it up, the bottom right of your email has a logo, with
lubuntu.net to the left of it, I'd like the logo on the left with whatever
theme and an area to the right of it to put in the 'DOWNLOAD ME HERE!! and
Scary development version text I can have a think of and use GIMP to put
the text on (Yeah..., so my lubuntu has GIMP installed, I need it for work).
The banner i had and gotten permission to use was really nice, so something
like that would be excellent.

I'll leave this on the mailing list as themes have to be decided upon by all
the team, but a quick sketch up to bide me over until firm decisions are
made would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Phill.

as banners, sticks, and other things, will derivate from the main
aesthetic line and, remember, this a bit like a democracy, so you'd
may not vote for my next theme proposal. This week I have pllaned to
publish the first designs: panel background, menu button, gtk2 theme
(now made by me, Clearlooks was not accepted for everybody, too
vintage) and wallpapers.

your needs in banner's sizes and messages. So, I'm waiting your

Hi,

long story cut short. I've moved host for my baby forum.

I used to use the 468X60 banner at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Marketing#Web
banners as a click link to download lubuntu, it was discussed that it
should be a little more obvious that it is a download link.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Marketing#Web bannersCan you redo it with
the text Click here to Download for Free (or words to that effect) - I'm
quite okay if it needs to be resized600(ish) X 100 (ish) as a banner if
the text needs to be on two lines.

If you could also give some thought as to a similarly sized one that says
Click here to get the development version (or words to that effect)
possibly with a different scheme indicating it is the development version?

I'll leave the art work / design to you experts, amongst many things I am
not, is a graphic designer :-)

Thanks,

Phill.

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] marketing

2010-05-04 Thread Phillip Whiteside
Hi,

within my baby forum I have a lubuntu area. The main banner for ubutnu
(which is not installed at the moment as I've just installed a new theme,
but can be seen here http://www.phillw.net/ (I have clearance from Canonical
for that)
I request permission to add the 468x60 banner from
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Artwork#Web
banners as a sub banner for that area, as the http link, i would
propose https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu#Introduction
to the Lubuntu Desktop project But I'm not sure if you could think of a
better link that does just say Direct from server / Torrent, I'd be happy
to have it link internally to a posting that explains getting it.

Regards,

Phill.
