Hello everybody!
I'm testing Lubuntu 10.10 alpha 2. When I log in, I get a message:

Hello everybody!
I can not install new language in Lubuntu 10.10.
I choose language to install, click Apply, enter my root password, click
Authenticate and ... nothing happens.
Is there something wrong with my Lubuntu or is it a bug that we are going to
fix?

Hi all,
I changed the virtual machine's RAM up to 512MB and I installed
successfully, I had used 256MB before.
Since the alpha releases of Lucid, this is the first time I have to use
Lubuntu with 512MB RAM. So weird for me.
Thank you for the instructions :).

I can't use Synaptic Package Manager in Lubuntu 10.10 alpha 3.
It always says I provide wrong root password but I'm sure it's correct, I

I need some help. Thanks!

Welcome to Lubuntu, Leo.
You could start here first: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Translations.
I've worked with some translations for Lubuntu in Vietnamese too.

Hi all!
When I introduce Lubuntu to people in my country, I'm sure the most asked
questions are: "How to ... in Lubuntu?", "What software to ... in Lubuntu?".
Most people in Vietnam still use Microsoft Windows, they don't know about
Linux, about Ubuntu or Lubuntu, but they are ready to try somethin
if you wish it gone.

I run alsamixer in terminal, when I hit F4 or F5 to switch to view in "All"

In virtualbox environment this problem occurs too, so I think there is
something wrong with alsamixer and Lubuntu.
Do you get this problem like me?

I always use lubuntu-screenlock.desktop in /usr/share/applications/ to lock

Hi!
Where do you get those .po files?
I translate LXDE components on http://www.transifex.net/. You can join your
translation team and start translating. It's easy to download/upload .po
files, or translate right on the web page.
I have also worked on http://pootle.lxde.bsnet.se/, but I prefer

Hi everybody,
I have tried Ubuntu 10.10 and Lubuntu 10.10 in Virtualbox environment. I'm
so suprised when Ubuntu says in ubiquity that we need at least 2.6 GB
available drive space to install Ubuntu and Lubuntu's ubiquity says that the
available drive space we should have is 3.2 GB. So why the ava
Hi everybody,
Vietnamese translation for LXDE components in transifex.net is almost done,
maybe about 90%. So I want to test all of them in Lubuntu so that I could
fix any incorrect translation before LXDE team publish them, I think this
way is easier than opening a po file and check line by line.
Hi Benny,
You can go to Panel Preferences (right click on panel), choose Application
Launch Bar in Panel Applets and click Edit button, a new window will appear
and you can modify icons's order in that window.
Hope this could help.

Hi,
On my laptop, guvcview uses more RAM than cheese but it costs less CPU when
I record video:
guvcview: RAM ~50MB, CPU ~10%
cheese: RAM ~33MB, CPU ~25%
All for 1 minute recording.
But guvcview is great, everything works fine, my video is slow and jerky
when I record with cheese.

Hi,
This idea is really cool.
I think you could add a lightweight web browser and set its homepage to be a
local HTML page which displays some guide how to use the LiveCD or
recommends some lightweight applications for users to choose.

Hi everybody,
I remember I could use lxshortcut to create some desktop shortcut in
previous versions of Lubuntu. But now I can't do that any more in 11.04.
It's fine for me because I know how to create a .desktop file but maybe many
people will need a GUI application to help them.

Hi Lee,
You could use lxshortcut.
In terminal, you go to your desktop folder. Run this command: lxshortcut -o
application_name.desktop (Of course you will want to change
"application_name" to something else).
A dialog will appear and you can choose the name or the icon, set the path
to the file.
