so this basically means that lxde will soon be QT based DE correct?
This is the answer i was looking for. If that is going to happen, fine, no
problem. lxde will be qt based and our efforts will focus on Qt. otherwise,
as said, we should focus on improving what we have instead of
experimenting..
i don't want to sound annoying, but don't you think you are wasting time
and focus?

i have some questions..

Perhaps it would make more sense to concentrate on a mac variant.
My reasons:
Lubuntu's paradigm is already virtually an xp clone.
Outside of different icons and theme color, there isn't much difference.

shouldn't we stay away from cario dock and come up with a docking
solution that doesn't require a composite manager?

Attention, i'm not arguing on what is the best framework for you to use.
I'm just arguing on the fact that right now we have a static stable gtk
environment. from this perspective, the Qt development is a simple
experiment that is taking away valuable time that could be use to improve
the gtk
Doesn't sound like it could be used. The idea would be to have actual
app-managed widgets with an interface to the file manager for integration
(grid style etc).

Ok folks,
I'm playing a bit with others docks to see if a can recreate a good OSX
environment without composite manager.
I have tested Docky, Simdock and Plank. I think the last one should be the
better choice because Is simple to configure via conf files, even without
composite is usable and

This is a serious question because its something I don't understand. Was

understand why QT is the better and only choice from here on out.

Yeah, if the only thing this dock does is offering launcher, lxpanel does
better... Lxpanel does not have the bouncing effect, but has a opacity
config that looks like the fake transparency when overlaying a window...
It's quite ugly when overlapping windows, but when used as a fixed panel,
