It's been long enough since I used lconf that I can't speak
to that. The
short answer is any module which is needed in order to be a
client should be
copied into the initrd.

Thanks David for the script and pointers. I'm a week or so away trying
this out in my box(s). Will post my results back.
It seems most of the examples use PXE, as anyone tried this using Uboot?
I hope it would have similar capability to pick a custom initrd image w/

Is it possible to get traditional LVM like functionality over Lustre
based storage?
My understanding is Lustre can aggregate storage OSTs to provide a
single mount point. But the aggregate storage it provides can't be
carved out into different logical volumes, is this correct?
For eg, assume

I'm tring to measure the overhead of having Lustre on the system. Among
other things, I noticed it starts lot of processes,
root 4565 1 0 Jan03 ?00:00:00 [ll_mdt_attr_14]
root 4636 1 0 Jan03 ?00:00:01 [ll_ost_13]
root 4651 1 0 Jan03 ?
Is Lustre supported on MIPS64 platform like Cavium?
Also can Lustre OST and client be different endian types? I saw the
following mail thread on lustre 1.6 beta 5 mixed endian, so I'm hoping
it is supported.

There is no real reason that I see to reduce the number of Lustre
processes. It won't cause any ill effects on other processes running
