Unfortunate news from Sibley regarding the Lord Danby Lute Book. They are
unable to digitize the manuscript since the scanning process would be to
invasive for this fragile manuscript. As of now, the microfilms will be the
sole medium in which they are available.

on folio 6v of the Welde Lute Book where it is described
as a galliard by Anthony Holborne. A facsimile
of the whole manuscript has been published by the Lute
Society and is available at a very reasonable cost.

though), I was fortunate enough to correspond with Mr. Lundberg often in his
last few years. Bracing was one of our subjects of conversation. The way I

I should add that Dorfmueller's dissertation is centered
on Mus Ms 1512. The manuscript also contains
instructions on playing the lute, tuning and fretting.
The instructions are reprinted in the Denkmaeler der
Tonkunst in Oesterreich xiv/28 and xxxvii/72.

Thank you for this Andrew. Interesting that in spite of the wiggly frets he,
quite correctly, points out that it's only really suitable for certain common
