Does anybody have a copy of the Dresden manuscript book part II edited
by barenreiter? Which works are exactly in this edition? I suppose the
incomplete duets, and a few suites, but any exact data?
Anybody information about status of band 15 singulaere Werke in anderen

Can you enlighten me as to where the Treble comes from?
It's by Johnson. It's from the Folger 'Dowland' MS. The (British) Lute
Society has a facsimile. Look to folio 7r (page 17). That's all I
used.

Hi folks
So I finally received my first lute yesterday. I've been trying to
practice out of the beginning of the baroque lute companion, and am
having a bit if trouble keeping the lute in position on my lap.
I tried the ribbon method, where I tie it to the peg box, wrap it
loop your strap around a peg on the treble side of the pegbox.

Hi Adam,
Here in the UK we can get rubber anti-slip shelf liner at Lakeland
Plastics shops. Various tool shops will provide anti-slip mats to put
on workbenches. These are pretty much the same material as far as I
can see. It's absolutely perfect for keeping a lute in your lap.

I'd be rather cautious with those - someif not most of the soft and

I have a piece of suede leather (a scrap I picked up at a local leather shop)
that I place on my chest with the lute against it. I also use a strap. I found
this method after years of using a mat with the lit in either my right or left

That was what I was looking at. I guess I need to read through it since it

Adam,
If you have a strap button on your lute (next to your bridge), attach a loop of
ribbon to it.
Now, pass the ribbon (the one which you have already tied to the peg box)
through this loop, and then sit on it.
This helps to keep the bottom of the lute from sliding away from you.

I met Ernst Pohlmann in 1967 and he wasn't a young man then. If he is

As I said before, I just got my first lute yesterday. Against the
advice of my teacher, I tuned it, I was all too excited to wait. I
figured with adequate research, a video, and a chromatic tuner that
supports A=415, I should be able to pull it off.
And I did. It sounds great to me, sounds
