Dear lute wisdom,
has anybody tried so far to
reconstruct/perform Verstandige, handige (pp.212-213) from Adriaen
Valerius's Nederlandtsche gedenck-clanck as a lute song? Valerius gives
as a source the 'Engels Prins Daphne', which is no other than Robert
I play it in concerts. I play from a continuo bass.
Btw. Valerius was not in the position to pay a proofreader because
Valerius was dead by the time his book was published.

Dear lute wisdom,
On the contrary, I would say that making the materials you have work,
to the best of your understanding and skill, is highly authentic
performance practice. Whichever approach best suits your taste and
available skills would be the best road, in my opinion.
