[LUTE] Bream Collection... I just noticed

Hi Gang, I just noticed that all the jackets of these CDs are mini reproductions of the original LP covers including the notes on the back. What an amazing collection and a truly amazing player. Allan To get on or off this list see list information at

. . . And The Julian Bream Consort's Fantasies Ayres and Dances, I believe originally released in 1988 on RCA, was just plain good . . . although I'm also biased by a bit of starry-eyed nostalgia when it comes to Bream. Eugene -Original Message- From: lute-...@cs.dartmouth.edu

Those of us who are members of the (British) Lute Society will have read Tony Bailes' delightful tribute to Bream. It's great to know that one of our finest HIP lutenists still enjoys listening to his collection of Bream's recordings. Bill [1]Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android

This is a lute-talk, correct? I did not know Britten and Villa-Lobos composed for the lute, they are certainly not known for it. I know Bream played the lute, but his complete works collection is not too meaningfull for the lute today besides the historical (meaning the 1900-2000 period)

This helps me understand your feelings and reactions... I feel the same about Leonhart, Hantai and Hopki. It is quite difficult for me to hear Landowska, Gould or Bream for the music itself. Ernesto Ett 11-99 242120 4 11-28376692 Em 06.12.2013, às 16:06, Geoff Gaherty ge...@gaherty.ca

I did not know Britten and Villa-Lobos composed for the lute, Britten wrote a lute song for Peter Pears and Julian Bream. It was for Orianna. Bream decided to play it on guitar, however. I've played it on lute in a concert with Tom Sol (bas) in a programme of opera arias
