Lyx looks promising but I want do some stuff that isn't on the menus.
For example, I'd like to create a command like this (simplified):
\newcommand{\techword}[1]{\emph{#1}}
However, lyx just doesn't get it:

Hi all!
I've made a first version of a LaTex to unicode translation table, that
could be used to display more characters in math mode in LyX, provided
that a good unicode font is installed.
The table is in http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/~d95mback/unicode/list.raw
for anyone who might be interested.

Guys
The Journal of Sound and Vibration (Academic Press) has recently released a
class file for the journal, jsv.cls. See following for more details.
http://www.academicpress.com/www/journal/sv/JSVLaTeXFP.htm
Anyway, since I often submit to the JSV I've generated a layout file for it
based on
Ok, guys, I give up. No chance to get rid of the GUI when not using it.
Almost everything insists on being important enough to present itself
somewhere on the screen or to use forms or do anything.
So I won't change yesterday's patch (at least not much).
I expect however to see more code moving

I have two bugs to report, both concerning macros and both occuring in 1.04 and
