You need to nest it (use to do that). We can automate that now.
I'll do that for one of the next versions.

For this, there is an inset in Insert > Custom Insets > Beamer Note.

Not the best UI I confess. But it's hard to support that in a more
convenient way.

Beamer and Notes

2018-07-31 Thread Enrico Manlapig
Hi developers,

I hope you're well. First off, I love LyX. Thanks for the work you do to
make it so easy to use and powerful.

My question/comment is about beamer.layout. I think the field "NoteItem" is
a little problematic. \note[item] should be used in a list environment
(enumerate, itemize etc). If I am already in such an environment,
requesting a NoteItem environment from the dropdown menu closes the list
environment, which means NoteItem is no longer appropriate. I think the
field should be just "Note" and the argument [item] dropped from the
definition. Now the list environment can end appropriately and
\note{content} will move outside of the frame environment.

If there is another use case for NoteItem, I'm happy to be mistaken. Either
way, thanks again for your work,

Enrico

beamer margin notes

2013-10-15 Thread Liviu Andronic
Dear all,
Are margin notes in beamer supposed to fail? Using 2.1beta1, when I
insert a margin note into a beamer presentation (see attached) I get
Floats lost LaTeX errors. I also tried with Fragile frames, but no
luck.

Thanks,
Liviu

Thanks, Jürgen. What's our policy with dealing with such cases in LyX
(when some construct is incompatible with a given document class)? Is
there a way to disable margin notes when using beamer, or we don't do
it?

We should do it, although I am not sure how (if not in the InsetMarginal
itself).

Maybe add a flag for insets to indicate incompatibilities with
specific classes? But I guess this is 2.2 stuff.
