I have installed skak and its fonts.
xboard and gnuchess -- from mdk-8.1 but there's no gnuchess.lang file,
whatever the hell that is, and so xboard can't do anything useful 'cos
gnuchessx is effectively broken!
I could chase around but I've had enough screwing around for one day
