Well, this happened to me today with LyX-1.0.4: I moved one part of my document from the main file to a include file chapter5.lyx. This part included also one eps-figure locating in a subdirectory C7 (no other figures in that directory yet). Because this directory was not named C5 as I thought

Hmm, maybe I am incorrect in assuming that there is a .cls for linuxdoc. Maybe it is something else as it seems that linuxdoc uses sgml... linuxdoc is a SGML dtd, when previewing the document lyx converts the document to linuxdoc sgml and then the sgmltools, v1.0.x convert it to dvi or
