installing LyX

Hello, I am new to LaTex and LyX. I want to install LyX under Windows XP. Which installer should I use, and what exactly should I install, if I have nothing related to LaTex previously installed on my computer? I am asking, because I cannot see a relevant explanation in the LyX web pages, but

I've been reading the documentation and stuff that I've found on the web related to developing customized formats, but am still unclear about many things. I'd like to follow up on this post as a way to get some help on the things that are of highest priority at the moment. Again, I compose
