If you have contex installed you can use the scripts there to downsample
the finished pdf.

In document-settinsg make a new branch, mark the text

I do not use jabref, however in bibtex you may use strings{} for this.
The best way is to use a shorthand form of the journal when you
enter the citataion (like AJP) and then make a new bibfile
with:

maybe you can use http://www.accesspdf.com/pdftk/
to fix your attachments in a post process?
However, I haven't used that either, so how
good a fit it is I do not know.

I mainly use lyx to write project reports in english, but I
recently had
reason to write one in swedish and had some problems with
writing swedish
characters.
Whenever I type å, ä, ö or their uppercase equivalents on the
keyboard, I
get the à character instead.
However, if I input the

You need to turn on twosided output in Document preferences.
I'm not cetain why this is necessary in 1.6 compared to 1.5.
but atleast you get your upper and lower titlebacck.

that preamble should be placed last in the layout
file like this:
