I am involved in organizing a conference, where we would like to
process contributions using LaTeX. Those of the contributors that
are LaTeX users will be asked to submit their articles in LaTeX,
using a particular formatting style – not necessarily in the strict
sense of ‘LaTeX

You would need to write a layout file for Lyx, based on the Latex style.
