When working with math formula in equation array mode, I found out that my
equation is too long on the page. I want to break it to two lines. Is there a
way do that ? All my equations are numbered (with label), when breaking long
equation into two lines, the first line should

Using the split or gathered environments may do what you want,
or use eqnarray (multiline equation) and do Alt-m shift-n to suppress numbering

itself into two lines or more as necessary.. attached is a lyx file with
one such long equation that I'd like to have split.. I tried \sloppy in
the preamble but it doesn't work.. probably cos the equation is in the

postscript, I see that lyx did not wrap the equation, and just keep going
until it got cut off by the page margin. Is this a bug? shouldn't lyx
automatically wrap a long equation, as it wraps words?
