Re: increasing TeX capacity
Hello! TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [main memory size = 350001] If you really absolutely need more capacity you can ask a wizard to enlarge me. I have had a similar problem with a large LyX document (350 pages, 16 chapters, 2 appendices, about 200 figures). When I compiled the LaTeX code from within LyX on a SUN computer (Unix) I got the message: TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [pool size=72078]... When I first exported it to a LaTeX file and then from the command line compiled the LaTeX file it worked. I also succeeded to compile the LaTeX code from within LyX on a PC with Linux. /Svante B.

Anyway, my guess is: it doesn't have to do with report or report-koma. But some parameter is overrun and TeX(?) has to stop compilation. Any hint? got this problem before? Thanks for any help J. Re: error while compiling: \dimen exceeded
Actually no, I am using pictex. I produced a pictex file using xfig and wanted to call it (\input) from lyx. It works well in a simple document i.e. it works when only a few \usepackage commands are present in the lyx file. When I \input the pictex file from my real life lyx file, it produces this error about an overrun counter. I have many \usepackage commands because I also import some tables produced with gnumeric. I want to import a latex (pictex) file as it contains some latex (math) commands that have to be treated by latex. There are some other latex compatible formats (epic, eepic, etc.) but I haven't tried them out. As I wrote earlier I think it is a barrier somewhere in TeX but I'm not sure and don't know how to overcome that. I suppose you are using the xy package ... And this is one of the problems of xy pic, it uses too much counters. Try to use pstricks instead. HErbert
bibtex in Lyx
I am using Lyx 1.3.2 on windows. I am trying to get bibtex to work with lyx. I used BibDB for windows to generate the bib file(Nice program). In a new file, I can insert the bibtex reference at the end of the document and then insert a citation in the text and it will list the references in the bib that I can select. I can then view this file in dvi with no problems. If I put it in my thesis document, I can still see the list of sources to choose from when I insert a citation, but when I vew the dvi, I get an error like this: LaTeX Warning: Citation `Ahlborn91' on page 2 undefined on input line 165. RE: bibtex in Lyx
your're right. Theres's probably a problem with the biography style as I pointed out with gerplain. Alternatively I exported the lyx file (using bibliography style gerplain) to tex. run latex once run bibtex run latex twice (error messages, forget it) I got a dvi file out of that. So it's possible to work with plain until you change the style and get the biography using the style you really want. If you find another workaround, please report it Cheers, J. RE: bibtex in Lyx
No I don't think it is the style. I changed the style file from plain to another and it works. I am using a msuthesis.cls (written by a CS professor at our school) for my thesis and if I change the LayoutDocumentDocument Class to msuthesis instead of article Bibtex stops working. I am going to dig through the class file to see if there is something in there that may be messing Lyx up, but I really don't know what I'm doing :) -Original Message- From: Jerome Schretter [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, October 17, 2003 2:40 PM To: Lyx-Users Mailing List Subject: RE: bibtex in Lyx your're right. Abstract indenting
Can someone tell me how I might go about getting the first line of the first paragraph in the abstract to indent? I have the indentfirst package in the preamble, but this affects all the paragraphs in my document except for the abstract. Is there some code I can enter in ERT at the beginning of the abstract? Thanks, Brad
A Question on Win32 Lyx
Hi, folks, When I tried to import a Latex file, it flashed out a DOS prompt window and immediately closed that window (it seems it said Bad Filename or command or things like that). Looks like I missed some script that it tried to call for converting latex file ? BTW, my lyx's bin directory is on PATH. My Win98 PC has MikTex installed and it worked all the time. I also installed the following fonts to Windows font directory: http://www-ftp.lip6.fr/pub/lyx/contrib/latex-xft-fonts-0.1.tar.gz I also have Imagemagick installed. The latex file I tried is just a small latex file with a few text and figures. It is a good latex (means: it works on Unix as well as MikTex on my PC). Furthermore, I can't even open a .lyx file that I generated from a lower version lyx on Unix. I can read the .lyx that this win32 lyx brings with. Do I need to install Qt ? I haven't yet. Anyone knows why ? Thanks, Frank PS: its relyx script is like this. Don't understand why. @echo off rem Wrapper script for Win32 rem written by Ruurd Reitsma set PERLLIB=%~p0..\lib %~p0\perl.exe %~p0\reLyX %1 %2 %3 _ Concerned that messages may bounce because your Hotmail account has exceeded its 2MB storage limit?
/Svante B.

RE: bibtex in Lyx
Hi It works for me. However I had problems using gerplain as a biography style. Using plain, it works well from within LyX. I ought to check this further. I am including a copy of the test file. Try it out and report if you have some problems otherwise reproduce these steps to insert a bibfile: insert the bib file through Insert-list and contents-bibfile then use cite as usual. I noticed, one reference looks rather strange: [3, 4]: it is split on two lines. with no possibility---at least that I know of---to remediate to this if not inserting a latex command instead. Hope it helps. Cheers, J. Am Fre, 2003-10-17 um 20.10 schrieb Jim Ragsdale: I made a new file using my thesis class file in the document Layout. It will not pick up the reference.
/Svante B.

Depends :-) Anyhow, we are aware of this problem and it will eventually get fixed, but if you go the ERT way you will stay with it. If you go the Paragraph->Center way, it will automaticaly get fixed. So it depends on your aesthetics, and if it is a long lived document or not. -- Lgb

> And this is one of the problems of xy pic, it uses too > much counters. bibtex in Lyx
I tried the test file. I just pointed the bibtex dialog to the new spot for the bib-test file and no problem. I think I have narrowed the problem down to my class file. Bibtex works fine for the article class incuded w/ Lyx.
I am using a msuthesis.cls (written by a CS professor at our school) for my thesis and if I change the Layout>Document>Document Class to msuthesis instead of article Bibtex stops working. I am going to dig through the class file to see if there is something in there that may be messing Lyx up, but I really don't know what I'm doing :) > -Original Message- > From: Jerome Schretter [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Friday, October 17, 2003 2:40 PM > To: Lyx-Users Mailing List > Subject: RE: bibtex in Lyx > > > your're right.
Hi, folks, When I tried to import a Latex file, it flashed out a DOS prompt window and immediately closed that window (it seems it said "Bad Filename or command" or things like that).
