linebreak.sty - further to my latest.......
If I remove \usepackage{linebreak} from the preamble and just use the ERT [\linebreak]then I don't get the question about linbreak.sty, but just an error message we've all seen so often: Undefined control sequence - and this stuff: Case No & Common Name & Species\linebreakCode & Date In & Sex & Age & I... The control sequence at the end of the top line of your error message was never \def'ed. If you have misspelled it (e.g., `\hobx'), type `I' and the correct spelling (e.g., `I\hbox'). Otherwise just continue, and I'll forget about whatever was undefined. Which means what..? Maybe it means it's not fixable? Hello, I haven't done anything with tables in LyX, always used OpenOffice, but thought I would give LyX a larrup to create a table and see how I went. No I really don't have the time to be fooling round with it but.. :-) LyX Version 1.6.5 Debian Squeeze [testing] Using Article [KOMA-Script] The cell in my table is [Species ERT[\linebreak] Code] Instead of Species Code - I need: Species Code My error message is: Errors: LaTeX Error: File 'linebreak.sty' not found Description: ^^M *** (cannot \read from terminal in nonstop modes) So where is linebreak.sty? This one has in the preamble: \title{} \date{} Of that way I can do what wants. Then, I export this to Latex. In the main file I include that file. Regards Marcelo Yahoo! So for instance, in English that command might yield "Appendix", whereas in German it might yield "Anhang" (I used a translator, don't laugh too hard). I'm pretty sure there's an equivalent LaTeX command for "Chapter". Anyway, perhaps your command for Appendix is blank. Meanwhile, I don't know exactly how you'd put "Appendix A" on the same line as the appendix's title, because an appendix is basically a chapter and the Book document class puts "Chapter 6" on the line above "Why LyX is the Best". Maybe there's some package that will do this for you. SteveT Steve Litt Recession Relief Package http://www.recession-relief.US Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/stevelitt

Because you use ERT. While latex (the command) understands EPS but not PDF, JPEG, or PNG, pdflatex understands the latter but no EPS. LyX is very helpful here, as it automatically converts the files in the background. Günter
DVI, PDF end PS behave differently with photographs
I'm confused about the different ways to generate final copy. Specifically, using the following Evil Red Text, after an includepackage graphicx in the preamble, \begin{figure}[h] \includegraphics {bw_albergo.eps} \caption{A picture of a room.} \end{figure} if I generate copy with the DVI button, I get caption and space but no picture and no error message. If I do the same with the Postscript button, I get the same. If I do it with PDF, I get nop picturte but an error message- can't define the size of the picture. So if I change to \begin{figure}[h] \includegraphics {bw_albergo.eps} \caption{A picture of a tucan.} \end{figure} and use the pdf button, it works. Why does it behave differently? Richard

Dear Lyxers I am getting an error (among others) X Error: BadPixmap (invalid Pixmap parameter) while the process is slowing down and finally has to be stopped (ps -a gives me the process number kill -1 process number) and lyx has to be started anew (the emergency save) I wonder what is going wrong.
