pdf output disabled for some documents

2013-02-01 Thread Francesco Montorsi
Hi all,
I'm having a strange problem with LyX 2.0.5.1,
with latest MikTeX 2.9 packages updated.

Most of the LyX documents I open can be compiled as PDF without troubles.
A LyX file I've got instead may be apparently rendered only as HTML:
when I click on the toolbar button "Show other formats" all items
"Show PDF (...)" are disabled; only "Show LyXHTML" and "Show HTML" are enabled.
Does anybody has a clue about why this happens?
How can I debug it?

The document uses IEEEtran which has been recently updated,
but I don't think that's the problem since I've got other
(smaller) documents that compile just fine
as PDFs with IEEEtran.

Thanks!
Francesco

Converting LyX-Document to asciidoc

2013-02-01 Thread Marco Herrn
Hi,

I am searching for a way to convert a LyX document to asciidoc. It seems
that there doesn't exist an export filter yet.

Is there an existing way on doing so? If not, what do I need to do to
write my own output filter for that purpose?

Regards
Marco

I have three "Plain Text" export filter? Is this what you are looking for?

maybe you are missing some converter for this?

No, asciidoc [1] is a specific format which is written in plain text with some
markup (similar to latex), but with the goal to let the source document with
markup be as readable as possible.

So what I expect from a converter to asciidoc is the conversion of the
markup (headlines, sections, text styles, etc.) to the asciidoc markup.

Ups - sorry. Checkout pandoc [1] - it converts to asciidoc and you can use as
input format xhtml
produced from LyX. Depending on your document, the result may be fine for you.

Cheers,

Not me, but I use my own build of LyX, not the one provided in ubuntu.
Can you give more details?

Does Quantal use TeX Live 2012? You probably have 2009 on Precise and
2012 on Quantal and this could explain the difference.

If you think this is a LyX problem, consider using the Ubuntu PPA to
test whether this problem exists with the latest version:

Thanks for your responses. I'll check out the Wiki. Also, I'll send the
exact error soon. I have a deadline in about 2 hrs.

problem previewing pdf figure

2013-02-01 Thread s nedunuri
I have a pdf figure in my lyx file. Exporting the entire document to pdf
using pdflatex works fine. The problem is previewing the image in lyx.
The error message I get is "Error converting to loadable format". When
i google for this problem i find several places that says its a problem
with an older version of Ghostscript, but that the problem has been
fixed if you have version 9 or greater. I checked the version of GS i
have in the lyx directory and its 9.04 so I should be fine but I'm still
not :-(

thanks!
