Hi Krishnan, I did manage to preserve the cross-references when converting from the XML-exported data from Framemaker to my Lyx files. This is probably harder to do when converting from MIF files, but I'm not sure. When converting from XML files, you get HTML-like labels like and references like Section 2.1, â€Converting the word description into an ASCEND model,†on page 7 So it's simple enough to translate those into Lyx references, which is what the and do in the following file: https://pse.cheme.cmu.edu/svn-view/ascend/documentation/trunk/xml/fm2lyx.xsl?rev=310&view=markup My big problems here are related to converting framemaker tables to lyx tables, sticking figures into lyx 'floats' and getting some kind of line-numbered code listing format. The documents we have references to specific lines in the code listings, and it's hard to get that to work correctly in LyX. Also, the code listing have captions, but Lyx doesn't seem to let you have a caption unless you're inside a 'float'. WRT equations, Framemaker's XML export exports equations as images (GIFs) so a first-pass translation from Framemaker to LyX can simply embed these images into the LyX file. Hi, You must use CJK-LyX: http://cellular.phys.pusan.ac.kr/cjk.html and also, chinese-capable latex. There is cwTeX for Traditional Chinese, but I don't know about Simplified Chinese. as I said: I have twocolumn throughout, except for a few pages.
The reason, I can´t do it with the normal twosided selection in the
format>document>page
is that if I enter \onecolumn >here text< \twocolumn
is that it puts an empty page inbetween which I can´t use.
That is the reason that I use \multicols, as suggested by Karsten and Herbert.

the question is, whether I have to disable in the document>pages the twocolumn
selection
or whether the multicols overrides it, if I use
\begin{multicols}{1}
somewhere in the text
and close it with
\end{multicols}
and am I than back again in twocolums?
Should perhaps add, that all my text is in twocolumn, just on two occassions I
want onecolumn for just a few pages.
I could try out all this, but my experience is that I muddle everything up and
its takes ages until I am through. So if you could just give me a hint for
the placement

What do you want to achieve? If you only want to switch between
twocolumn and onecolumn mode insert \twocolumn or \onecolumn as ERT
where you want to switch. This will start a new page. Also have a look
at the multicol documentation (texdoc multicol on unix).

and then around the danish abstract

but this doesnt seem to work - the result is a all-danish document ... ?

Hi, I installed the font and tested and * The \spadesuit now displays the correct glyph * I tried several other symbols from the Math Panel and they also are fine * (I don't know how to insert symbols by means other than the Math Panel, so I didn't test that) Thanks for the quick update! If there is some blasphemy in your document, it won't work ;-)

Hi there, I use Koma script book style and want to get rid of an empty page which is put between my two column part and one column part two column part * here is end of a list In the following slides are shown: (now I have to switch to onecolumn-style, since the slide show is in a table which spans the whole page, therefore:) \onecolumn 2.2.2slides Helfrich-Förster .. \twocolumn between the twocolumn text and the onecolumn text there is a whole page without text (just a header) which I don´t like. How do I get rid of it? Note: Besides twocolumn I use a twosided document, which might (also?) be responsible for this empty page. Thanks for help: Wolfgang
