This has got to be a LyX or LaTeX FAQ but Google isn't helping me much and
my LaTeX books haven't arrived yet...
I have set up two character styles, XYZkeyword and XYZvar. They are defined
in an xyz_classes.inc file in my $HOME/.lyx/layouts as per the standard,
like so:

Hi,
Someone going under 'LyXWinUser' placed the following on a wiki page
called Site.FAQ. That page is intendend for question regarding the use of
the wiki, and not issues related to using LyX. So I'm posting the question
here, hoping that 'LyXWinUser' will get an answer.
With an answer, the
Hi Richard,
thanks for your help. What I found was the following:
my bib file had hundreds of extra '\' all over the place, no idea why. So I
removed them, that seemed to help some.
Now the issue is easier to resolve I think.
I am trying the following commands:

Hi There,
I'm having trouble sorting out how to use the citation features. My
references are created from an online service called RefWorks, and each
citation looks like this:

author={Christopher M. Aanstoos},
year={1987},
month={Fal},

Hello All ,
I am trying to figure out how to get the agu_article.lyx template to work.
This looks like a fantastic template and using all the red tex like I did
last time was no fun.
The issue is:
- I go to File -> new from template
- select agu_article.lyx
- I get a message that says

Let me point out, though, that on Windows quality would *not* be an
issue. The native clipboard format is GDI metafile, which in fact is a
vector format. The system does an on-the-fly conversion to a bitmap
format only if the requesting application (the one you paste into) does
not understand the

Dear all,
I'm trying to have a star symbol (*) as a footnote symbol rather than
numbers (because I use superscript numbers for literature citings). From
an earlier posting I've learned that
[EMAIL PROTECTED]@textsuperscript{*}} in the preamble would do
the trick. Which it does - as indicator

Hi Mike,
as you wrote the chapter about initials in the extended user guide, you can
certainly help me. I attach two files with initials. Initialen.lyx has 3
examples, but only the one that uses bigdrop looks o.k. The second file is an
example from a LaTeX-book which I imported. It uses dropping
