Dear all, Maybe for people who writes in his native language, such a tool is a stupidity. However, for people like me who writes in English in spite of the fact that his native language is Spanish -or other-, such a tool is good since it is rather complicated to write in a language which -clearly- isn't dominated at all, in order not to become crazy when at the end of the document we have to spellcheck everything. So, in my opinion it would be a good tool, for a lot of non-english users is the same. But of course for those people who thinks that using this tool is like telling them 'lazy', 'stupid' or whatever, it can be done in such a way that each one of us choose to use it or not.

A Lyx newbie here. I've been playing with the Bibtex citation/bibliography features and they look nice. I've installed my bibtex style file (bst) for the article of interest. You may have to use jurabib for this, though natbib may also have an option for it. Check their documentation. Eventually, you'll need to add something to your preamble. Richard

This happens for all documents, not just beamer.
If for some reason you specify other font like latin modern the output is OK.
Since I had not yet the chance to do a clean install I am not sure if this is

packages.

dejavu fonts with texlive (fedora 8)
I noticed after installing texlive on fedora f8 that now if I create a
beamer document, the default fonts are ugly, and they are coming from:
/usr/share/fonts/dejavu-lgc/DejaVuLGCSans.ttf
If I do \usepackage{cmlgc}, everything is cool.
Where did this default get set and how to change it?

Hi all. The endheads package does fantastic things for endnotes but it does not let one adjust the format of the endnotes themselves. Ideally, my endnotes should appear with an unindented and unsuperscripted note number followed by the note's text which should be indented, something like this: 1. some note text continued note text ... 2. a new note with more text ... Agreed about on-the-fly spellchecking, but autocorrection seems to me to be quite different so long as it does its work unobtrusively. These Word feature is for people, who do not want to click "spell check my doc" every time they finish writing - there are plenty of writers who still use typewriters - they do not like to be corrected on-line. A Lyx newbie here. I've been playing with the Bibtex citation/bibliography features and they look nice. I've installed my bibtex style file (bst) for the article of interest. When I process the manuscript, the output gives citations in brackets [1], [2], etc. Is there a way to have these citations as superscripts? Thank you, Aaron

You may have to use jurabib for this, though natbib may also have an option for it. Check their documentation. Eventually, you'll need to add something to your preamble. Richard

This happens for all documents, not just beamer.
If for some reason you specify other font like latin modern the output is OK.
Since I had not yet the chance to do a clean install I am not sure if this is
a problem with the texlive configuration files or a real bug in the rpm
packages.

I noticed after installing texlive on fedora f8 that now if I create a
beamer document, the default fonts are ugly, and they are coming from:
/usr/share/fonts/dejavu-lgc/DejaVuLGCSans.ttf
If I do \usepackage{cmlgc}, everything is cool.
Where did this default get set and how to change it?

I can't remember details, but my dissertation used the style you're looking for. Hi all. The endheads package does fantastic things for endnotes but it does not let one adjust the format of the endnotes themselves. Ideally, my endnotes should appear with an unindented and unsuperscripted note number followed by the note's text which should be indented, something like this: 1. some note text continued note text ... 2. a new note with more text ... If I understand you correctly, changing (or adding, if not present) the line \preview_scale_factor in the "preferences" file in your ~/.lyx directory to have another value (mine is 1.25) will change the size of the math-preview fonts.
