UI Localization of 1.5.6 on Mac

Could anyone explain how to change the environment variable LANG on the Mac from English to German? The new 1.5.6 version of LyX for the Mac comes by default with the English UI. Is that done by purpose or a bug? With the version 1.5.5 I didn't have this problem. Will the change of the environment

Using version 1.1.5. Just added a float figure, and the default caption label displays as "Figure 1: " with a box for the legend. The figure itself is a pdf, so I use pdflatex to view the compiled document. What's strange, and different from all the previous versions I've used, is that the co
