Figure Numbering

2008-08-06 Thread Rich Shepard

Using version 1.1.5. Just added a float figure, and the default caption
label displays as Figure 1: with a box for the legend. The figure itself
is a pdf, so I use pdflatex to view the compiled document.

What's strange, and different from all the previous versions I've used, is
that the complied figure is labeled Figure 1.1 Why? Where to I change
this default behavior? I see nothing in document settings that explains this
discrepancy.

restore files and position

2008-08-06 Thread Ivan Werning
If I have 2 or more files open, say A.lyx and B.lyx ordered that way,
and I close LyX while the edit window (tab) is active with file A.lyx
then when I load LyX back up I get file B.lyx.

It seems that LyX does not remember which was the latest active file,
even though it remembers the cursor position in each (I have
everything checked in preferencesUser Interface so that it remembers
files, positions and window). Is this expected? If so, I don't think
this is desirable.

I am using LyX 1.5.6 on Mac OS-X 10.5.4.

Zan,

This is a long document that is better presented as a report. Yes, it has
chapters. However, it seems to me that figures and tables used to be
numbered sequentially, not by chapter and sequence.

Is this now some standard practice? It's probably not a big deal, but it
is different from previous versions and I can see potential issues if the
figures and tables are labeled as 1.1, 1.2, etc. but the text references are to
1, 2, etc.

Zan,

I believe that you're correct, and that my memory is faulty. Looking at my
book (published 2005 and written using LyX) I see that figures and tables
are numbered by the chapter. It's just been so long since I've included

UI Localization of 1.5.6 on Mac

2008-08-06 Thread Peter Baumgartner
Could anyone explain how to change the environment variable LANG on the Mac
from English to German?

The new 1.5.6 version of LyX for the Mac comes by default with the English
UI. Is that done by purpose or a bug? With the version 1.5.5 I didn't have
this problem. Will the change of the environment variable affect other
programs as well?

Any help will be appreciated!

I am using Book (koma-script). The index generates index list in

Is there a way to have an alphabetical character as the heading of every
group of the list.
