If I use Spanish - es keyboard layout it works just fine in LyX 2.1 RC1 and 2.0.7. I'm guessing this bug will go away when you install Ubuntu 14.04 and have access to a later LyX version. After upgrading the OS on this host to Slackware-14.1 I have a few application issues to resolve. LyX now will not display a .dvi of a document because, "File does not exist: /tmp/lyx_tmpdir.T10705/lyx_tmpbuf2/practical-eda.dvi" What do I do to either re-establish that file or have LyX create a replacement? During the installation process I put English to my keyboard preferences when I was asked for it from the CD. Once installed I added Spanish to my keyboard preferences. So now I have two "variant" input languaje for my keyboard preferences: "Spanish - es" and "English - en" which I use fine and I can switch between languajes with ALT + Left Shift (my preferred taste). another document (in that one I used kluwer.bst instead of spbasic.bst, but

I tried to find out why this was not working now. Perhaps somebody has an
idea?

I never used Export=>Lyx archive option in lyx. Based on "The LyX user's guide"
and the
"Additional LyX features" manuals it should export in one archive every file
necesary for compilation of the document. If this does not occur, it is a bug.
Apart from this I guess it is more straightforward to make a separate directory
for every document and copy/store all the necessary file in that directory.
Then it is very easy to make an archive of the directory with its content.
