PS on previous message. To be clear: The update in dvi correctly outputs changes in text. It is merely changes in images that are not updated.

When I type math or insert a child document and so on, it appears as blue text, not as typeset text, even if I insert content into a preview. I thought it would let me see nicely output math...It doesn't seem to do anything.

LyX: I open a new document. As is: No preamble, default user settings. 2 I open Adobe. I take a snapshot to clipboard. 3: LyX: I paste the clipboard into the document. At prompt, I save the photo to folder. I save the file I created. I preview dvi into Skim. A beautiful image appears in my output. 4. I right click image and choose edit externally. 5. My default image viewer, XnViewXP, opens. I crop offending matter, and save, overwriting original file. I go to finder and see that original file has changed. Ayuh. 6. LyX. Right click, reload. view dvi again in Skim. No go. 7. Close Skim, try again. no. Revert. No go. 8. close LyX. No temp files. reopen. Appears correct in LyX. run, open dvi in skim. No go. 9. For run pdf via xetex. Opens in Adobe. GREAT, PERFECT. picture is cropped. 10. Check temp files. 0_Users_***_Documents_MyBook_Legendre_Transform_pasted1.png is my cropped image. 0_Users_***_Documents_MyBook_Legendre_Transform_pasted1.eps is uncropped. No match. I trash both these files. I return to step 6. Same results. Files reappear, again incorrectly. 11. I change default dvi viewer to TeXShop. in LyX run/view DVI. No go. Not skim specific. 11. LYX: I run/view using LyXHTML. Open in xhtml viewer. GREAT. PERFECT. For S.B. : 12. I close LyX. I reopen. Add some text. Rerun via xetex to pdf to adobe. Output not changed. Close file in Adoble. rerun, output changed. You are right. Closing is necessary. However, still ineffective with dvi output.
How to tell LyX to add empty line after paragraphs of my style?
I try to create layout. It works well except one thing: paragraphs after lists (itemize) are not indented (layout uses indention instead of skip between paragraphs). Trying to solve it I converted document to XeLaTeX tex file and saw: Text, text, text. \begin{itemize} \item First item. \item Second item. \end{itemize} Text continues... The problem is that there is no empty line after list, so LaTeX doesn't indent phrase "Text continues...". I've tried different options: NextNoIndent, ParbreakIsNewline, RightDelim. "NextNoIndent 0" gives me correctly indented text in the LyX but not in the generated PDF (or tex). Have I missed some option? Or is this a bug? Should I report bug or send letter for devs? I've attached minimal working example with included local layout. -- Regards, Roman Inflianskas indent.lyx Description: application/lyx

What do you expect? What is not working? Instant preview is useful for e.g. math formulas or external material. Stephan

Instant Preview
I can't seem to get instant preview working on a mac 10.6.8 with LyX 2.0.7.1 I have installed the "preview" package via the tex live utility, turned graphics/instant preview on in the preferences pane, and reconfigured LyX. Is there something else I should do? thx
Image won't update...possible bug?
I am using Lyx 2.0.7.1 on a Mac 10.6.8 I have a simple (less than 2 pages) document that has a few images. I edited/cropped one image using an external editor (per right click menu). I saved it over itself. Now, no matter what I do, it refuses to update the picture. The uncropped version appears. In my lyxtmp folder, (which I set via the preferences to a folder in my documents, since I seemed to be having a problem with the default not having permissions...separate problem, but it is related, perhaps?) anyhoo, in the lyx temp folder I can see a bunch of png and eps files. The png files match the updated version. The eps remain like the uncropped original. I deleted all the files, reran, and lo and behold, it came back (wrong) again. I believed that I had moved the temp folder, but I found a folder /Users/---/Library/Application Support/LyX-2.0/cache that had a bunch of files endingn in eps, but without extensions, but if i added eps to them, I could se they were the eps files from my lyx document, and I could see the bad eps there. I deleted it, reran, and lo and behold, still no good. I tried closing files, Lyx, and reconfiguring LyX. No go. I tried reloading the picture. I tried deleting the picture, rerunning, then inserting the picture again and other various combinations I could think of. IN THE END: I did manage to get it to work by copying the original file with a new name, and rerunning. This seems however to be overkill, forces me to go hunting in the finder for the file, and ruins the naming scheme I use to make it easier to keep my images in order. At any rate, I don't believe this is how it should work. Why is there no way to force it to update. Thanks...
lyx does not open old beamer class files
Hello, I have just upgraded to lyx 2.1 from lyx 2.07 (on Win 7 32 bit). I understand that there is a significant change with the way beamer is handled, and wanted to see what happens to my old presentations. The problem is that my previous beamer presentations, all made in lyx building on the old "20 minutes presentation" example file won't load. An attempt to load them leads to an error message - I attach a snippet. Other lyx documents (e.g., with the "article" class) work fine. Sivan
