lyx 2.0.0 in natty (ubuntu)

2012-02-22 Thread Art Edwards
I'm wondering whether others have had this error in natty (ubuntu)

Due to some error in it, the layout file:

AGU-article

could not be loaded. A default textclass with default

layouts will be used. LyX will not be able to produce

correct output.

Also, when I try to open a REVTeX4 template, I get

The selected document class

true

requires external files that are not available.

The document class can still be used, but the

document cannot be compiled until the following

prerequisites are installed:

revtex

See section 3.1.2.2 (Class Availability) of the

User's Guide for more information.

Thanks,

Art

Please run LyX from a terminal. You will get more detailed error
messages. Then we can figure out what's wrong.

Difficulty viewing pdf output

2012-03-25 Thread Art Edwards
I receive the following error message:

Could not display /tmp/lyx_tmpdir.T25823/lyx_tmpbuf2/MRS_2012.pdf

The location is not a folder.

The pdf file exists and is viewable, just not using the view button in lyx.

I tried using the -dgb debug switch from the command line, but this
introduced what appeared to be spurious errors.. no generation of pdf.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just to be clear, you're saying that if you do View PDF or View PDF

Difficulty viewing pdf output

2012-03-25 Thread Art Edwards
I receive the following error message:

Could not display "/tmp/lyx_tmpdir.T25823/lyx_tmpbuf2/MRS_2012.pdf"

The location is not a folder.

The pdf file exists and is viewable, just not using the view button in lyx.

I tried using the -dgb debug switch from the command line, but this
introduced what appeared to be spurious errors.. no generation of pdf.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes to everything above the last question. That was the problem. The
Viewer field was set to xdg-open. I changed it to acroread and it works!

Many thanks.

encapsulated postcript rendering within lyx

2009-10-10 Thread Art Edwards

Hardware: Compaz Presario V5000 with 1.5 G of memory, trurion 64 processor

Distribution: Ubuntu jaunty

Lyx version: 1.6.2

When I load a .eps file, I receive the message:

error converting to loadable format.

This did not happen in the previous Lyx version (1.5.6) under
Ubuntu-intrepid (same hardware).

If this has been reported before, could you point me to the bug-report,
or to the fix?

Many thanks,

bibliography not working in ieeetran

2013-01-30 Thread Art Edwards
I'm using the ieeetran template in lyx 2.0.2. All citations turn up
missing, even though I have used lyx to insert them from the .bib files
in the same directory. When I transfer all the content to a REVTeX4
template, all the citations are found correctly.

Tell me what other information you would need to help debug this.

In the immortal words of Emily Litella, Never mind. I had taken out some
of what I thought was just IEEE cruft from the template. Oops!

Thanks for your responses. I'll check out the Wiki. Also, I'll send the
exact error soon. I have a deadline in about 2 hrs.

multi dimensional integral symbols in lyx and latex

2013-09-19 Thread Art Edwards
It appears that in newer versions of latex and lyx, the symbols

\iint

and

\iiint

are unrecognized. I get an error referring to an unrecognized control
sequence in both latex and lyx. I should point out that this was not
true in prior versions.
