seminar.layout doesn't work as expected
Since lyx-1.1.6-fix (AFAIR) I've been having some problems with seminar.layout. I defined frames on my slides, but now one slide appears with frame and empty, the second one appears with text (without frame), etc. If I export the file to TeX it looks like: -- \begin{slide*} \end{slide*} \slideheading{Otro texto} \slidesubheading{Subtexto} Texto -- It's wrong. I used to use the same lyx files before without problem. I attach a sample. Soon all programs that counts are compatible with the xml file > standard, >so compatibility with *doc will become less important??? An important topic could be the image manipulation. ms-word produces very ugly images prints. If you try to scale the image on ms-word could be happen the following: - The result is ugly - The image move to any place, but not where you want to put it. - Sometimes the images is moved to top of the PAGE, whithout consider top margins. It's very hard convince it the another layout. - If there frames neas to the image, the text moves dirty. The problem (may be) could be only the format: EPS. But it's much better have only EPS format, because is very powerfull (IMHO) to scale images. BTW, the figure labeling is poor on ms-word. When you inserts new labeling, the numbers can lost the right numbering. The table manipulation could be frustrating on LyX/LaTeX (if you compares it with ms-word) but works. Sometime in word you choose (accidentally) a row (not table) and change the size, it's hard to align with the rest (except with undo). Works with Master files in ms-word it's a pain. The first time works fine and you are happy. According you documento grows, the manipulation is hard. The references used are absolutes and it's a pain change them. The below things to made a improductive people. If you want to write only text, with a little manipulation, ms-word works fine. If you want a better document, LyX/LaTeX is better. -- German Poo Caaman~o mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.ubiobio.cl/~gpoo/chilelindo.html

Bug in LyX 1.1.5?
I found the following bug, but I'm completely sure that is a LyX bug. I'm writting a spanish text (Format/Document/Language/Spanish) with a list item. The text is the following: Conexiones_no_persistentes. ... The underscore represent a protected space. The dvi's page show an n~ (ñ) instead a space. Conexionño persistente. ... If I try with default language works ok. I exported to LaTeX and something like that appears: \item [Conexiones~no~persistentes.] The problem is that LaTeX interpret ~n like a ñ (n tilde), and precede to protected space on lyxlist. Sorry, but I can't sent to you a fix for that, just the error. My document exported to LaTeX looks like: \documentclass[12pt,oneside,spanish]{book} \usepackage{pslatex} \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} \usepackage[latin1]{inputenc} \usepackage{babel} \usepackage{setspace} \onehalfspacing \makeatletter %% LyX specific LaTeX commands. \providecommand{\LyX}{L\kern-.1667em\lower.25em\hbox{Y}\kern-.125emX\@} \newcommand{\noun}[1]{\textsc{#1}} %% Textclass specific LaTeX commands. \newenvironment{lyxlist}[1] {\begin{list}{} {\settowidth{\labelwidth}{#1} \setlength{\leftmargin}{\labelwidth} \addtolength{\leftmargin}{\labelsep} \renewcommand{\makelabel}[1]{##1\hfil}}} {\end{list}} \usepackage{verbatim} \makeatother \begin{document} \begin{lyxlist}{00.00.} \item [Conexiones~no~persistentes.]Problem. \end{lyxlist} \end{document} On LyX appears as: \layout List \labelwidthstring 00.00. Conexiones\SpecialChar ~ no\SpecialChar ~ persistentes. Problem. -- German Poo Caaman~o mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.ubiobio.cl/~gpoo/chilelindo.html "La historia no se lee, se escribe"
Re: Customizing the index
Herbert Voss wrote: > 1. delete /usr/bin/makeindex > this is only a link! have a look at it ... In my Linux box (Mandrake 7.1beta) /usr/bin/makeindex is the executable file. But I wrote the script on my ~/bin directory and it works ok. Also, I downloaded your Letter.ist and I tried it successfully. I noted that headings_flag, heading_prefix and heading_suffix are the "commands" that I need. So, I commented the others. In the makeindex documentation appears lethead_prefix, but it's the same, I guess. My new question. How can I center the heading_prefix? I tried: heading_prefix "\\texbf{\t " "\t\\texbf{ ", etc... But it doesn't work :-( With: heading_prefix "\\begin{center}\\textbf{ " heading_suffix " }\n\\end{center}" It doesn't work either. Ohh... \\hspace works. Customizing the index
Reading some documents provides by "teTeX: A documentation guide" in my web2c TeX distribution I noted that some dvi files had the index as books. I mean, Symbols ... A ... ... B ... ... I did search aboutr index but I didn't find anything. I supossed that is an option (such as a declare a package or similar). What is the package that provides those index's format?
