seminar.layout doesn't work as expected

2002-07-17 Thread German Poo Caaman~o

Since lyx-1.1.6-fix (AFAIR) I've been having some problems
with seminar.layout. I defined frames on my slides, but
now one slide appears with frame and empty, the second
one appears with text (without frame), etc.

If I export the file to TeX it looks like:

--
\begin{slide*}

\end{slide*}

\slideheading{Otro texto}

\slidesubheading{Subtexto}

Texto
--

It's wrong. I used to use the same lyx files before without
problem.

I attach a sample. If you to see how is expected, you can
see any file from http://cronos.dci.ubiobio.cl/docs/sd/pdf/
(except sockets.pdf).

There are differents exams packages. This one prints nice points,
but a lot of features are missing (if you compare to others).

May be, you can try modifing seminar layout. It has Portrait or
Lanscape tag, that allow an argument. This tag never is printed,
so, I guess you can use something like that to receive a
parameter an define \question[xx]

The same as \part[xx] or \subpart[xx]

Using seminar

2001-03-11 Thread German Poo Caaman~o

I'm using seminar in a portrait mode. It works fine, but I can't
get an special feature for the slide I require.

Seminar has an automatic page breaking, but I need that the
slide name will be printed in each new slide.
Example:
   Heading Title1 (2/2)
   ...
   ...
   Heading Title1 (2/2)
   ...
   ...
   Heading Title2
   ...

The slide of slides it doesn't matter right now, but the heading is
important.

Writting \theslideheading on the header could be the solution, but
I modify the heading locating it over the frame. Furthermore, th
\theslideheading sould be appear inside of the slide. Here is
the problem, the slide text is written over the heading name.

Any suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

A little problem with listings

2001-02-25 Thread German Poo Caaman~o

I wrote a little text to try listings.

If I try
\renewcommand\thelstlisting{\thechapter .\arabic{lstlisting}}% captionstyle
on LaTeX preamble (as well as Herbert's example).

When I put \lstlistoflistings the result looks like:
1   .1my Caption

instead of:
1.1 my Caption

the package's version is 0.20 (I can't connect outside to verify
a more updated version)

Thanks in advance,

Because it's annoying when you insert a lot of tables. I agree with
a propertie of table (in its window).

I understand it could be possible has differents alingment, but block
alignment results left aligned in the most of cases. Furthermore,
when there is a tabular inset inside table float, the caption is

It coulb be nice choose the alignment for the table, because

What's happening with tabular in 1.1.6?

2001-02-18 Thread German Poo Caaman~o

Before LyX 1.1.6 the default behaviour for tabular was {\centering,
but it doesn't happen anymore. All my new tables are left aligned,
but doesn't happen with tables created before than 1.1.5.

Is it a new feature or a mistake?

I noted it. I made the changes that allow work with this
way. May be some letters doesn't represent the best way to
reach an option, but it's a fist approach (I'm talking

The only problem I see, a lot word are repeat just for the

What did happen with spanish translation? There are less words

IMHO, don't try pdflatex until you have more experience. You
can try:
1. Choose "pslatex" on Format/Document/Font.
2. Export to PostScript
3. execute ps2pdf your-file.ps

You can play with hyperref package for get PDF's features, for

Which package?

  000
  ---
   110

etc. (the numbers in my exampe are random).

And polinoms divisions:
x^5+x^2 : x^3+x^2 = x^2+x+1
x^5+x^4

x^4+x^2
x^4+x^3

x^3+x^2
x^3+x^2

Are there a package that could simplify this?

An important topic could be the image manipulation. ms-word produces
very ugly images prints. If you try to scale the image on ms-word
could be happen the following:
- The result is ugly
- The image move to any place, but not where you want to put it.
- Sometimes the images is moved to top of the PAGE, whithout
consider top margins. It's very hard convince it the another
layout.
- If there frames neas to the image, the text moves dirty.

The problem (may be) could be only the format: EPS. But
it's much better have only EPS format, because is very
powerfull (IMHO) to scale images.

BTW, the figure labeling is poor on ms-word. When you inserts
new labeling, the numbers can lost the right numbering.

The table manipulation could be frustrating on LyX/LaTeX
(if you compares it with ms-word) but works. Sometime in
word you choose (accidentally) a row (not table) and change
the size, it's hard to align with the rest (except with undo).

Works with Master files in ms-word it's a pain. The first
time works fine and you are happy. According you documento
grows, the manipulation is hard. The references used are
absolutes and it's a pain change them.

The below things to made a improductive people.

If you want to write only text, with a little manipulation,
ms-word works fine. If you want a better document, LyX/LaTeX
is better.

Well.  On your LaTeX preamble:
\usepackage{endnotes}

On your document:
\let\footnote=\endnote   <-- With LaTeX (red)

At the end of your document:
\newpage
\begingroup
\parindent 0pt
\parskip 2ex
\def\enotesize{\normalsize}
\theendnotes
\endgroup

With LaTeX (red), too.

On the endnotes.sty file appears:
% To turn all the footnotes in your documents into endnotes, say
%
% \let\footnote=\endnote
%
%  in your preamble, [...]

But, LaTeX (or LyX) complains that missing "begin{document}". Just
I tried on the document, and worked fine after that.

Bug in LyX 1.1.5?

2000-07-28 Thread German Poo Caaman~o

I found the following bug, but I'm completely sure that is a LyX bug.

I'm writting a spanish text (Format/Document/Language/Spanish)
with a list item.

The text is the following:
Conexiones_no_persistentes. ...

The underscore represent a protected space. The dvi's page show
an n~ (ñ) instead a space.
Conexionño persistente. ...

If I try with default language works ok.

I exported to LaTeX and something like that appears:
\item [Conexiones~no~persistentes.]

The problem is that LaTeX interpret ~n like a ñ (n tilde), and
precede to protected space on lyxlist.

Sorry, but I can't sent to you a fix for that, just the error.

My document exported to LaTeX looks like:

\documentclass[12pt,oneside,spanish]{book}
\usepackage{pslatex}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
\usepackage[latin1]{inputenc}
\usepackage{babel}
\usepackage{setspace}
\onehalfspacing

\makeatletter

%% LyX specific LaTeX commands.
\providecommand{\LyX}{L\kern-.1667em\lower.25em\hbox{Y}\kern-.125emX\@}
\newcommand{\noun}[1]{\textsc{#1}}

%% Textclass specific LaTeX commands.

 \usepackage{verbatim}

\makeatother

\begin{document}

\begin{lyxlist}{00.00.}
\item [Conexiones~no~persistentes.]Problem.
\end{lyxlist}

\end{document}

On LyX appears as:
\layout List
\labelwidthstring 00.00.

Conexiones\SpecialChar ~

persistentes.
Problem.

In my Linux box (Mandrake 7.1beta) /usr/bin/makeindex is the

and it works ok.

Also, I downloaded your Letter.ist and I tried it successfully.
I noted that headings_flag, heading_prefix and heading_suffix

In the makeindex documentation appears lethead_prefix, but
it's the same, I guess.

My new question. How can I center the heading_prefix?
I tried:
heading_prefix  "\\texbf{\t "   "\t\\texbf{ ", etc... But
it doesn't work :-(
With:
heading_prefix "\\begin{center}\\textbf{ "
heading_suffix " }\n\\end{center}"
It doesn't work either.

Ohh... \\hspace works. But, how can I center it?

I asked on comp.text.tex, and they recommend to me use the
hyperref package.

After read the documentation, the solution was:
\usepackage[pagebackref]{hyperref}

on LaTeX preamble. The result can be viewed on bibliography, now
appears with the page numbers that was cited.

Both of them. I unistalled cvs and rcs and reinstalled rcs only.
The behavoir is the same.

Another point, I'm using LANG=es and some menu appear in spanish.
I tried with a new document and an older document.

I tryed the same steps on klyx-0.10.0 (english menu), and works
fine. After register, appears check-out menu, show history, etc.
Only check-in is disabled. After check-out, checkin is enabled
and the check-out is disabled.

With lyx-1.1.5 check-in is always disabled.  I'm using xforms-0.88-10

I've looked at archives and I saw a thread with ae fonts pointing
to lyx-devel list. I tried, but I need to try on win too. Thanks.

Where could I'll get a documente that explain how to use PS fonts?
Because I could be use the fonts provides by Adobe Acrobat. But I
don't know how to use it on my linux box.

Those includes a better way to port a LaTeX style to LyX?

Sometime ago, I liked to port docs style (for tests, quiz, exams, etc.)
to LyX, but the environmnet questions requires \question instead
\item as usual on LyX. After that, I user LaTeX + vim for that,
LyX for the others things.
