If your LyX use format 4, then I recommend that you use format 4 yourself too. Helge Hafting I think you are right Helge - I'll use version 4. Eventually someone will update the documentation and all will be clear. Ian

Hi All, I am trying for the first time to setup a layout file, and have got some way forwards, however I am uncertain of the importance of the 'format' command in the layout file. The customization manual indicates that it refers to version 2 however the book.layout I'm basing my layout on uses
