Environment Depth question..

Hi All, I guess this has been asked many a time, but I find the way the environment depth thing a bit strange. I find it wierd that you have to click to increase the environment depth for each paragraph in an environment. I.e. for entering the following into lyx: 1. Non-words * fooblog *

I don't really know whether it is worth the hassle to implement especially as it does not seem to save any typing. You have to give the full name once anyway (be it in that list or at the first occurence) and can use the abbrevation afterwards... Or do I miss your point? But maybe
