Image handling on windows
Dear list, I use image files on my lyx (windows version) and failed when i tried to view it. It said "No information for converting png files to eps. Define the convertor in the preferences." What should i install to handle image files on windows version? And what options should i put in the preferences? Is there any references (URL) doing this? Thanks, Adinda P

Hi list,... I have lyx-1.3.6 , ilatex2html-pngicons and latex2html installed from suse-10.1 distro. I put this parameter: latex2html -no_subdir -split 0 -show_section_numbers $$i on LaTeX -> HTML converters on LyX preferences. Reconfigured and restarted LyX. but i still can't view HTML. Lyx 1.4.1 compatibility with its older versions
Hi list, I made an article using LyX 1.4.1 and got lots of errors (over 200) when i tried to edit it using 1.3.7 version. There are tags can't be recognized. Is there a way to solve this compatibility problem? Is there any explanation to this condition? Thanks, Adinda P

Re: Set line spacing
Thank you all for the answers. I downloaded some of the packages and saved them in one folder. Then i changed "package repository" in miktex options to local folder and set it to that folder. But it failed. Is there any (somthing like) configuration file or packagelist file to make it works? How to make a local folder a package repository? Is there any file that i can download all the packages in one file instead of downloading them one by one? I'd like to bundle all the packages and lyx into a CD so i don't need to connect to the internet. Is there any tips or idea? Set line spacing
Hi list, I'm running LyX-1.3.7 on windows version.I use it more often now than linux version. The first problem i have using windows is when i set line spacing to 1.5. I got this error LaTeX Error: File `setspace.sty' not found. \onehalfspacing *** (cannot \read from terminal in nonstop modes) Why this isn't found? Should i download ekstra package using "miktex options"? If so, then why the file isn't budled with lyxWinInstaller? Thanks, Adinda P

Caption Figure
Hi list,...
I use roman numbering in chapter and I would like to use arabic numbering on
float. So i want to change the caption in figure (float figure) to
"Figure 3.1 -figure description-"
instead of
"Figure III.1 -figure description-".
the other style is the same with the default class (centered and auto number).
I tried to add this line in preamble,
\renewcommand{\caption}{\arabic{chapter}.\arabic{section}}
The result is not what i expect. How can i do this? What other options /
parameters I should make in order to \renewcommand? What docs / manual should
i read? Any solutions added in preamble would be nice.

(1.3.2) and conffiguration. The first one has been successfully compiled. The
other failed.

The odd is, if i can compile the first book normally, (with the same
configuration and same tex code addition), why i couldn't do the same with
the last one?
Did i misconfigured? I brought you guys my lyx preferences and both lyx files
of the books. Hope that helps you find the trouble.

I knew that this topic has been asked before, but i couldn't find the answer.
I added

just before the chapter name.
And i got this error:

Dear list,... I read from "Help > Customization > Appendix A" about bindings. I don't understand (mostly) what are the meanings. Writing several books
Dear list,... How can i write several books? Here's what i'm doing. One lyx file per book (one pdf file per book). The arabic sentence came out as if there's no support for viewing arabic (ÓÈÍÇæç èÊÙÇäé). However, i can view arabic site via konqueror. Any idea what's wrong? Mixing arabic and english
Dear all,... I have successfully enabled arabic setting to my LyX 1.3.0 (Thanks to Dekel Tsur). But i still can't use F12 to change arabic mode and english mode, although i have the line \bind "F12" "language arabic" in my .lyx/bind/bind file (which there wasn't any file in .lyx/bind/) Was it wrong? Where should i put it? Second, Can i mix both english and arabic words in a sentence or in a section? I tried to, but when i viewed it through dvi, PDF and HTML, it was all in arabic. Inserting Graphics
Dear All,... I have a problem with inserting graphics. As in user guide said I tried to insert any type of graphics using Insert > Graphics. It can be viewed with LyX but failed when i tried to view it with others (DVI, PDF, HTML etc). I thought this is because i use the wrong type. So i exporting an image to eps, and then tried it again. It still the same, more over, i can't see it on LyX. I tried to read again from the user's guide. I even copied mobius.eps (both the file and the image) from the manual to my test.lyx. It said "mobius.eps no file found!" I clicked and fixed the location of the graphics, but still i have that appereance from lyx. What i mean is image (graphics) in the middle of the article or text. Is there any tex code or something like that to be added into preamble? Please help, Adinda P

big fle, footnote isn't created in HTML view
Hi list, Is there any documentations or tips for writing a book? Any example (lyx file) of book (at least 70 pages) can be downloaded? Well, I have a problem when my file (lyx) is getting bigger. The footnote is not created when i view it in HTML. Instead, i got this: "Hey Jude" typeset@protect @@footnote SF@gobble@opt A beatles song written by Paul and John If i seprate it into several lyx file, and i view (HTML) each one of them (NOT one file which including those files), the footnote is created. SGML (LinuxDoc article) class
I changed my class after i installed linuxdoc-tools-0.9.20-4mdk as discussed earlier. When i viewed both with DVI and HTML, the image didn't show up. I checked by creating an empty file using article class, inserting a small image. I can view the image with DVI. But after i changed the class to SGML (LinuxDoc article), i can't view it. So Is it true that SGML (LinuxDoc article) class doesn't allow us to insert image? If it is, how come? Thanks, DIda LyX Newbie

inserting URL

How can i insert an URL? I tried (insert => URL...), entered the URL and the
Name ("http://www.myhome.com"; and
"my personal page"). But when i viewed HTML, there's no link.
It's only:
my personal page http://www.myhome.com
instead of:
my personal page (links to http://www.myhome.com)
And there's no error message. How can i fix it up? My lyx version is
lyx-1.2.1-2mdk
My friend suggested me to add these lines in preamble:

\usepackage{url}
\latex{\renewcommand{\htmladdnormallink}[2]{#1 (\url{#2})}}
And, in

I got an error that i should set margins or something and other settings.

How can i add a textclass and where can i find it?
Hi LyX users, I'm trying to use a template. I got this error message: "The document uses an unknown textclass "linuxdoc". LyX will not be able to produce output correctly" After i clicked it, it opens the template. What's the error mean? If it uses an unknown textclass, why it (still can) open the template? What'll happened if ignore this error message? If i should add the textclass, where i can find it and how? Is there any manuals i can read? Btw, is there a textclass to create linux how-to?
