Re: Arial fonts in lyx figure
I have an eps figure file that uses Arial fonts in it. Trying to insert this figure into a lyx document fails - it appears to complain that the file is using arial, an unknown font. How do I get lyx to accept, display, and print an eps file that happens to contain arial fonts? I see two possibilities: a) Use the original instead of the copy: Helvetica. b) Include the fonts into the eps file. In many programs (e.g. Corel Draw) is an option in the export dialog or save dialog. Marcus _ Dipl.-Inform. Marcus Beyer [[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Abt. Re: Hypertext and PDF
Hello Jean-Pierre, Running tex2pdf -r to change the toc option from yes to no produced en error: pdfTeX error (ext4): link annotations can't be nested. The option linktocpage is doing nothing else than putting 'linktocpage' in the the hyperref parameters. Works here ... A much better solution than 'linktocpage' is using a newer pdfTeX version, as it can now handle nested links! See also this page from the hyperref mantainer http://www.tug.org/pipermail/pdftex/2000-August/006924.html I tried it, and it works. I send you an example if you want. Grüße, Marcus _ Dipl.-Inform. Marcus That it is broken now. e.g. I wouldn't have installed fix2. JMarc Well, we did not know about it at the time :) However, I am not sure JMarc that the sutuation is worse now than it was earlier (is it?) I am not quite sure if I understand you. Certainly there are many bugs fixed from fix1 to fix2. And that is very nice. (thank you!) But this bug is a new one (since fix2), and it is annoying. So I wouldn't have installed fix2 on my Windows system, which always costs me serveral hours. And oscillating between different versions is not so easy as with unix/linux, because the installation procedure changed a lot during the last versions. Marcus

garamond.sty and metrics
Dear LyXers, Has anyone experience with garamond.sty and metrics available at CTAN? I want to use the garamond ps-fonts which come with CorelDraw 9 for my documents. Are then the files from fonts/psfonts/corelpak/garamond/... the right ones? But these seem to be quite old (1996). Alternative files are in directories adobe, monotype and xmono. Which should I use? I haven't used these fonts, but don't let age of files put you off: the fonts themselves probably haven't changed for years, so why should any of the support files? Ok, right. I tried these now, and: It works! Garamond is used :-) The only strange thing is, that I had to append some lines in psfonts.map (for dvips) and in pdftex.map (for pdftex). using other PostScript fonts
Hi all, I have just read the explanations of Kathryn Andersen (thanks a lot!) and would now like to try out some PostScript fonts. For one font (Garamond) I have now files with suffixes afm, pfm and pfb, which seem to be metrics and outlines: Garamdn.afm, Garamdni.afm, Garamdnc.afm Garamdn.pfm, Garamdni.pfm, Garamdnc.pdm Garamdn.pfb, Garamdni.pfb, Garamdnc.pfb What do I have to do to use these font in my documents? Is there a good documentation available? I am using LyX 1.1.6fix1 on NT4 with pdfTeX 3.14159-13d from MiKTeX 1.20e. Should I upgrade to a newer MiKTeX? Best Regards Marcus Beyer _ Dipl.-Inform. RE: pretty-printing XML
until now I always used listings.sty to pretty-print my source code. This always worked very well for Java etc. Now I have XML-documents, but listings doesn't seem to support that (I cannot find the string XML in ftp://ftp.dante.de/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/supported/ listings/lstdr vrs.dtx ), and choosing HTML for this only brings poor output ... Does anyone know a good solution for pretty-printing XML? look in one of the driver-files and you'll see, that you can append your own one. I don't see how to do this, since keywords (element names) are implicit (different for each document) in XML. I also had a quick look at xmltex but this seems to be quite complex and seems to be more intended as a replacement of the TeX-syntax than a pretty-printer(?) Is there an instant solution available? Marcus
RE: pretty-printing XML
Is there an instant solution available? Marcus Maybe a recent veriosn of lgrind does it ? (my version knows nothing about *ML stuff) You can check CTAN perhaps. -- Jean-Pierre Found nothing in ftp://ftp.dante.de/tex-archive/nonfree/support/lgrind/lgrindef (lgrindef,v 1.7 2000/12/27) Thanx! Marcus

no index list with winlyx
Dear LyX users, I am using the winport of LyX1.1.6fix1 and have problems with the index list: none appears in the target document. Simple Example: 1. File - New 2. Insert - Lists TOC - Index List 3. anyword 4. Insert - Index Entry of Preceeding Word 5. View - DVI (or something else) I don't have that problem with the linux version of LyX1.1.6fix1 (I am using at home). Is this a bug of the winport? Or do I have a problem with miktex? Re: how to really deal with figures?
Baruch Even I'm working on InsetGraphics, a rewrite of FigInset. Dekel Tsur The external inset will not work with pdflatex. I Does this mean that LyX 1.2 will not support pdfTeX??? Baruch Even Actually the InsetGraphics will have better support, the Baruch Even External Inset is something different than InsetGraphics. Baruch Even [...] Baruch Even I believe that for 1.2.0, the InsetGraphics will be ready Baruch Even for prime time and this will support pdflatex better. Thank you for the explanation! Now I am very relieved :-) I must admit that I misunderstood the situation. Regards Marcus

Re: \frenchspacing
JMarc Are you sure that german typography rules demand that JMarc \frenchspacing be in effect? Almost sure, yes. Can someone who has more knowledge than me help here? On the page http://rfhs8012.fh-regensburg.de/~vor34975/kopka2/node7.html it says that german.sty turns on \frenchspacing since german.sty version 2.4a from April 1992. Now I tried also MiKTeX+WinLyX. Again \frenchspacing is inactive for german and ngerman. Marcus

AW: WinLyX 1.1.6 hangs
"Claus" == Claus Hentschel "JMarc" == Jean-Marc Lasgouttes I but when I hit a key on my keyboard LyX hangs completely, I so I have to kill the task. I "WinLyX 1.1.5fix1" worked well on my NT4 + Exceed 6.2. Claus It seems that Lyx 1.1.6 needs access to some X11 features that Claus are not implemented in all X-servers by default and which were Claus not accessed before. Claus I don't know exactly (because I do have reinstalled my complete Claus system, too) but Lyx does run only after an update of X-Win32 Claus to the most recent version. Because I do not know the releases Claus of Exceed: Check, if there is a newer release available and if Claus it runs with that version! JMarc It is likely that xforms =0.89.5 uses more stuff from the JMarc server, in particular input methods and input contexts JMarc (for compose key support). Thank you both for the quick answers! I will try to get a newer Version of Exceed and then tell you! regards, Marcus http://www.Stormlight.de/lyx_de.html
