Change tracking ... in Lyx
What's the way to track changes made in a Lyx document? I know there's a patch for earlier versions http://wiki.lyx.org/Tips/ChangeTrackingLyx1-3-2 but is there something now for 1.6.1? Thanks, FN -- FN * Independent Journalist http://fn.goa-india.org M: +91-9822122436 P: +91-832-2409490
1.6.1
Just shifted to Lyx 1.6.1 today and it's very nice! I particularly liked its superior NAVIGATE functions, that allows you to reach to specific footnotes, etc. Thanks guys and ladies, who worked on it! Photos for offset printing
Sorry to raise what might be an off-topic query here. Is there any tutorial (Lyx- or Free Software-connected) tutorial on how to prepare your photos for offset printing? Many thanks. FN -- FN * Independent Journalist http://fn.goa-india.org M: +91-9822122436 P: +91-832-2409490
Halftones
Sorry about not phrasing my question adequately, but this is what I meant to say earlier: To print in offset, my B&W photos need to be in halftones, if I am to output it properly on a Lyx file, made into PDF. Please could you tell me how to convert my images into halftones? What is the best format for photos to be used in Lyx (EPS, JPG, TIFF)? What should be the resolution for B&W printing? Is there any primer on how to prepare a Lyx file for offset B&W printing? Many thanks! Query on printing with 'screens'
Hi all: I'm a Lyx user in Goa, and hope you won't mind me intruding. Every time I go in for a book, to be printed via offset, my printer has a problem. He takes the PDF file and attempts to do crazy things like importing it into Windows/Corel Draw, etc. He says the photos won't print because they don't have a screen. Query: * Is he right? * Is there some way of putting a screen on the photos? LyX takes TeX commands, so maybe if there's one I could use it. Earlier, he was struggling to find how to print the file laterally inverted (mirror image), and we found the command after some search. Book (AMS) default type
Please could someone tell me what is the default type used for Book (AMS)? I would like to include this in the publishing info of the book, but can't seem to find the name of the type. If I've hiked the default type (base) to 11, what would be the resultant linespace? Thanks! Watermark across a book?
Is it possible to use Lyx to create a 'watermark' across all the pages of a book -- say, something in grey to read 'Unedited Rough Draft'? I've seen this on another draft copy of a book (not done in Lyx) and was wondering if similar capabilities existed here. Just need to use this while submitting books, which should not be taken as the final version. Thanks! Tutorial for Devanagari Documents in LyX (from FOSS-Nepal)

LyX/LaTeX is a word processing alternative that is completely open source and free. Summary: With the incorporation of XeLaTeX in all major distributions of LaTeX including MikTeX, it has become easy to incorporate Devanagari and other Unicode characters in LaTeX/LyX documents. Here we describe a point-wise summary to help you do just that. http://www.wikihow.com/Create-Devanagari-Documents-in-Lyx-Using-Xelatex - Please help me expand/test the how-to. Classes for books...
Does anyone know of any interesting and nice classes for creating books (other than AMS, KomaScript, Memoir). A friend found Bookest, which works for LaTeX, and he says it nice. How do I go about using it in Lyx? Thanks! FN -- Frederick Noronha http://fn.goa-india.org Ph +91-832-2409490 Links from Goa: http://goalinks.livejournal.com/

Any way I could insert the authors' names in the table-of-contents, without including the same in the top-of-the-page information?
