displaying enumerations? Note, that I'm not talking about the
enumeration styles used in the produced document. I know how to change

completely mistaken. LyX/LaTeX can be used to typeset any kinds of
documents. For example I write all my letters with LyX, because I never

You have to choose Tools-Reconfigure _after_ creating the dummy
layout because Reconfigure looks for new layouts. From your description
you did it before you created the dummy layout.
