Problem wth Appendix

2002-12-21 Thread Koundinya
Hello all,
Nearing the end is my thesis and so I have some topics meant
for Appendix. I have used the Koma Script book class for my
thesis and it's multi parted. I have 4 chapters. Now I have a
separate file appendixA.lyx which I have inserted in the main
thesis file and when I view a PS of that, the section numbers of
the Apendix start from where the last chapter has ended (i.e
4.4, 4.4.1 ..) . I would like each Appendix to freshly start
the section numbers (any format).

BTW, in the appendixA.lyx, I have done a Addchap to start
Appendix. Doesn't the Koma Script book class contain a direct
way to insert Appendix like it has for Bibliography ?.

I hope i have been clear.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Re: Problem wth Appendix

2002-12-21 Thread Koundinya
I think it should be done in the appendix file itself. Doing
what you said in the master document does help, but doing the
same in the Appendix file works. But then in the second Appendix
file, if I do the same thing, then in the TOC, it still shows
'A' and not B.

In the master document, just before you include the appendix file, do a
 Layout-Start Appendix here
The next chapter (i.e. the appendix chapter) will be numbered A and the
 sections A.1 etc.

Bibliography

2002-11-30 Thread Koundinya
Hi all,
I'm writing my thesis using the koma-script book class using
multiple include sections. For example, I have separate .lyx
files for each chapter and I'm including them in the main lyx
file. Likewise my last lyx file (say thesis_bib.lyx) is for
Bibliography as I do not want to have Bibliography at the end
of each chapter. Now I'm including thesis_bib.lyx in my main
.lyx. Then I go to individual chapters (separate lyx files) to
insert citation reference and I see that the keys that I have
defined in thesis_bib.lyx are not visible here. If my
bibliography is in the same file then I can see the keys. Hope I
have been lucid enough in explaining my problem. Please help.

Thank You,

Koundinya

This is exactly what I was looking for. I have inserted the

able to cite reference the keys. But when I view the PS of the
chapter alone is see a [?]. Then when I do a ps of the whole
document I see the reference [1]. Anyway, it works.

- Most simple solution is to put unbreakable space and on the
- special line and give it environment Date. However, the result is
- ugly (you get one more blank line in the title). The right
- solution is to put this into Layout/Preamble (but you may break
- something):
-
- \def\@maketitle{%
-\newpage
-\null
-\vskip 2em%
-\begin{center}%
-\let \footnote \thanks
- {\LARGE \@title \par}%
- \vskip 1.5em%
- {\large
- \lineskip .5em%
- \begin{tabular}[t]{c}%
-\@author
- \end{tabular}\par}%
- % comment out printing of date
- % and improper vertical space
- %\vskip 1em%
- %{\large \@date}%
-\end{center}%
-\par
-\vskip 1.5em}

Re: removing date from article class

2002-11-19 Thread Koundinya
Hi,
In connection to this question, I have had a question to ask
for quite some time now. I'm writing my thesis using the Report
class and how do I avoid the date appearing with the Title. As
of now I can see a Title, author followed by the current date.

Thank You,

Koundinya

Figures

2002-11-16 Thread Koundinya
Hi all Lyx Users,
Few days back, there was a talk to using xfig for figures. I'm
having some .ps files that I need to edit using xfig and then
export as .eps for use in my report. I have pstoedit installed
on my system. Can anyone of you help me by telling how to
convert the .ps files to .fig format so that I can edit the same
figures in xfig for further use in my report being done in lyx.
The pstoedit options are too many and very confusing.

Thank You,

Koundinya

Need some help.

2002-11-07 Thread Koundinya
Hi all,
I'm relatively new to Lyx. Although I have been reading the
documents, but still I have some problems. I have been using Lyx
to write my Thesis as well as other documents at work. With
respect to my thesis, there are some latex commands that I want
to try out in the preamble after reading the extended features
doc. But when I enter the raw latex tags in preamble, I do get
errors. Am I missing something that I need to know to use the
preamble. For example I'm trying to add a \lhead{My name}, but
when I do a layout-preamble and add my preamble, then try to
view the PS of it, I get errors.

Thanks for any info
