one more problem with the Springer svmono class

2012-01-18 Thread Lesław Bieniasz

Hi,

I have one more problem with the svmono class from Springer.
The class has a master book file and subordinate files for chapter
and appendix (among other files). Initially the master book file has
only one chapter and one appendix (labelled "A"). So, I have added more
chapters and appendices to see what happens. The inclusion of more chapter
files is OK. They are properly seen as separate chapters, and the sections and
subsections of them become properly numbered. But the same does not happen with
appendices. I would be happy to see "Appendix A", "Appendix B", etc., but
unfortunetely all distict appendix files become numbered identically:
"Appendix A", and all sub-sections are also numbered identically, although
they come from different files. Is there any way to force the automatic
renumbering of the appendices?

question about math equation editing

2012-01-18 Thread Lesław Bieniasz

Hi,

I am trying to learn how to use the math equation editor in LyX,
and I have encontered a problem. The manual says that while writing integrals
one should pay special attention to correctly writing the "d" letter, which
is an operator, hence it should be written as an upright letter. In order
to achieve the effect, the manual suggests to highlight the letter "d", and
then use the keyboard shortcut ALT+C R. I am trying this, but this does not
work. Instead of changing the style of the highlighted "d", I get the whole
equation highlighted (blue colour). The same happens if, alternatively, I
choose the main menu options Edit/Text style/Capitalics. So, what should I do?

class svmono

2012-01-10 Thread Lesław Bieniasz

Hi,

I am new to LaTeX and LyX, and I am trying to start writing a document using the
Springer SVMono class/template for LyX. I have downloaded and installed the
class. LyX offers a number of templates for this class, in particular
svmono-book-master, svmono-chapter, svmono-foreword, etc. I am now able to read
any of these files, which contain some pre-defined stuff. One may think the
stuff is correct by itself, since I have not changed anything in the files.
However, when I choose the view option, for example pdf or pc, I get lots of
error messages. I suppose the book-master file has to be combined somehow with
other files to form a complete structure of the document, and I tried to re-edit
the names of the various files in the book-master document to make them
connected, but this did not help.

What exactly has to be done, step by step, to put the files together to form
one complete document that can be viewed without errors?
