CJK-LyX-1.4.0 (release-2)

2006-04-07 Thread cghan

Hello,

I've just found a small but annoying bug and fixed it. So, anyone who
downloaded CJK-LyX-qt-1.4.0-1, should upgraded to the "release 2" version at
the same ftp site,
ftp://cellular.phys.pusan.ac.kr/CJK-LyX/qt .

Sorry for any inconveniences this may cause.

CJK-LyX-1.4.0

2006-04-06 Thread cghan

Hello,

I have just uploaded CJK-LyX-qt-1.4.0 at the usual ftp site,
ftp://cellular.phys.pusan.ac.kr/CJK-LyX/qt .

I have tested the patch for some time without any problem, but it's always
possible there may be some serious bugs.

Also notice that I have dropped the xform-frontend for this version (I do not
use this frontend any more).

CJK-LyX-1.3.4

2004-02-22 Thread cghan

Hello,

I have uploaded CJK-LyX-(xforms,qt)-1.3.4 at the new ftp site,

ftp://cellular.phys.pusan.ac.kr/CJK-LyX

CJK-LyX-(xforms,qt)-1.3.4 is a patched version of (xforms,qt) port of
lyx-1.3.4 for multibyte language users such as Chinese, Japanese and
Korean users.

Thanks to Mr. Satoru Goto([EMAIL PROTECTED]), this version contains an
important fix of the bug in exporting lyx files to ascii or latex files. I
also found with the help from Mr. Atsushi Shimmra([EMAIL PROTECTED]), a
workaround of the problem displaying symbols in CJK-LyX-qt. So, I
strongly urge every users of CJK-LyX to this version.

CJK-LyX-xforms users should also notice that a new i18ned xforms lib.,
xforms-1.0-i18n_7 has been uploaded at the above ftp site.

New ftp site for CJK-LyX

2003-10-15 Thread cghan
Hello,

I have lost all the data on the ftp site, stone.phys.pusan.ac.kr, which I
have tried to recover, but in vain. I do not know what caused the problem,
but the machine has the history of being hacked from outside several
times. So, I decided to open a new ftp site for CJK-LyX,

ftp://cellular.phys.pusan.ac.kr/CJK-LyX

Please notice that to save the disk space, I have uploaded only the most
recent version of CJK-LyX on the site. Anyone who needs old versions may
email to me.

CJK-LyX-1.3.1

2003-03-23 Thread cghan
Hello,

CJK-LyX-1.3.1 has been uploaded at the following ftp site,

ftp://stone.phys.pusan.ac.kr/pub/CJK-LyX .

THis one is much more stable than the buggy CJK-LyX-1.3.0 (sorry for
that!). Be sure that your xforms-1,0-i18n is updated to the current
version, 'xforms-1.0-i18n_6'.

'Root' input style does not have 'preedit position' and 'preedit area'.
Without preedit position and area set, there is not much chance of
input server's putting precomposed characters on the viewing area. This is
the reason why multibyte input server which needs preeditarea or spot
cannot work with 'Root' input style. Maybe kinput2 is smart enough to
choose the correct preedit position even in 'Root' input style? Anyhow,
thanks for your explanations.

Are you sure that you upgraded your xforms-lib to xforms-1.0-i18n_4 ?
With this xforms-lib, I have a nice little preedit window just below the
input point(see the attached screenshot). I am using RedHat-8.0.

Nope. The 'Root' input style is for western 1-byte input server. For
multi-byte input server, 'over-the-spot', 'off-the-spot' and 'on-the-spot'
input style must be adopted.

So, be sure again whether your xforms-lib is properly installed.

Oh, I see. That's because I set CJK locales in xforms-lib with 'LC_ALL'.
This would be changed, but for now I cannot find better way. So please

O.K. Here's my solution. First of all, your menu problem is due to the
CJK-font loading by xforms-lib. Because I do not have this problem(I use
redhat-8.0), I cannot help any more on this problem. For the remaining
problems, I recommend you to upgrade xforms-lib and CJK-LyX to current
version, 'xforms-1.0-i18n_4' and 'CJK-LyX-1.3.0-5', which I just uploaded

I guess I agree with you on that point. But why does this happen? I have
to look at closely the xfont_loader. If you have any idea, that will be a

What does this, 'mojibake', mean? If you rpm-install, you don't have to do
anything else. If you install other way, you have to make sure 'ja.gmo'
(if you are using japanese input, for example) is in
'/usr/share/locales/LC_MESSAGES' .

to add extra patch. The present CJK-LyX-1.3.0 should show the translated

CJK-LyX-1.3.0

2003-02-25 Thread cghan

Hello,

I am really happy to announce CJK-LyX-1.3.0, which is a patched version of
lyx-1.3.0 for Chinese, Japanese and Korean language users. You can
download the patch, RPM source and binary(redhat-8.0) at the usual ftp
site,

 ftp://stone.phys.pusan.ac.kr/ftp/pub/CJK-LyX .

Please be aware that from this version on, CJK-LyX will depend on
xforms-lib with vesion not earlier than 1.0. Why? From this version, the
xforms-lib became open-source, and the needed internationalization of the
lib can be implemented more easily. In fact, we have made a heavy patch
againt official xforms-1.0, which CJK-LyX-1.3.0 critically depends on.

So users of CJK-LyX should install our patched xforms-lib(xforms-1.0-i18n)
  ^^^
which you can download the patch, rpm source or binaries from the above
ftp site.

CJK-LyX-1.3.0 has a couple of important improvements over the previous
versions.

1. With our patched xforms-lib, you can now input CJK-charcters on any
part of lyx. You can even input file name in CJK-chars.

2. Cursor movement owned by the local input server is much improved. It is
not perfect yet, but is improving!

3. You can now Find & Search CJK-characters as well. But Spellchecking
CJK-chars has not been implemented (Anyone how to do?)

As you all know, we, the CJK-LyX users, have been helped by the pool of
lyx developers. But this time, Angus Leeming's contributions for the
release of this CJK-LyX have been so critical that without his help
CJK-LyX-1.3.0 could never come out this early. Last couple of weeks, we
had numerous(my count went beyond 40 !) communication sessions--usually my
question and his answer-- to develop the internationalization of xforms.
He also gave a hand to polish CJK-LyX. I admire his kindness, generosity,
endurance and professional skills. He really deserves our, the CJK-LyX
user's, Big applause !!

So, enjoy LyX, and enjoy GNU spirit.

CJK-LyX-1.2.3

2003-01-09 Thread cghan

Hello,

It seems that I have forgotten to make an anouncement for the
CJK-LyX-1.2.2. So, this time I take no time to make the one for the
CJK-LyX-1.2.3;

I have just uploaded the CJK-LyX-1.2.3 on the usual ftp site,
   ftp://stone.phys.pusan.ac.kr/pub/CJK-LyX .

CJK-LyX-1.2.3 is the unofficial patched version of lyx-1.2.3 for Chinese,
Japanese and Korean language users.

It is worth noticing that from this version (actually from 1.2.2) on, you
can display CJK-letters without using "lyxstring". That is, you can
compile CJK-LyX with or without "lyxstring". You can "find and replace"
CJK-letters with CJK-LyX-menu, too.

I know. But end-users don't mind whether it is a hack or incomplete, as
long as it sreves for their needs. The thing I would like to emphasize is
that the code is working splendidly well. It is quite stable( I have not

"math-extern" in lyx-1.2.0 is fantastic!

2002-05-29 Thread cghan

Hello,

I'm surprised that in the lyx-1.2.0 announcement, there's no mention of
"math-extern" function in the newly added features.

I have been using "math-extern" with Maple nearly everyday for several
months and it becomes quite stable in current lyx-1.2.0. You can integrate,
differentiate, simplify, factorize, within mathed. What it cannot do
is to define functions and to load extra packages. So
solving differential equations within mathed is not possible at the
moment, but eventually will be done, Right, Andre Poenitz?

I think with this newly added feature, lyx is now competing with
"WorkPlace" in real sense.

Any comments?

I have found a workaround: "Add \allowdisplaybreaks in preamble". It works
fine. So, I think I can live with the current lyx for quite A WHILE.

By the way, Andre, I have found that my previous problem of math-extern
with lyxstring is gone in the recent lyx-1.2.0cvs. I think the Lars patch
to fix the bug in ps-preview (update problem) seems to resolve the
math-extern crash trouble as well.

why amsmath as default ?

Hello,

In the book layout style, lyx seems to use amsmath (via, i.e.,

lyx-1.2.0cvs.

The reason why I ask this queation is that I cannot break multi-line
equations in amsmath style. Can anybody teach me how to break multi-line
equations in amsmath?

Immediately after the announcement, I found I mistyped the IP address of
the homepage. So, I sent the correct IP address in the subsequent email,
which you, Mr. Lasgouttes, did not seem to notice. There is "cjk.html" at
stone.phys.pusan.ac.kr, but it is not up-to-date. Could you please redirect
CJK-LyX homepage on the download page to the correct IP address at

  http://cellular.phys.pusan.ac.kr/cjk.html ?

Sorry for causing any inconvenience. On this correct CJK-LyX homepage, you
may also see our efforts of displaying local characters on menus,
messages, TOC, etc.

CJK-LyX Homepage

2000-03-01 Thread cghan

Hello,

CJK-LyX has finally a home page at

http://stone.phys.pusan.ac.kr/cjk.html

For those who do not know CJK-LyX: CJK-LyX is a temporary name for an
extened version of LyX for multibyte language users such as Chinese,
Japanese and Koreans. You will be most welcome to have a visit and give
any comments, suggestions or corrections, etc. On the page, you have
CJK-LyX specific informations regarding installations and usage of
CJK-LyX.

PS: I will be thankful if this homepage is listed on the internalization
efforts page in the LyX Home Page.

multibyte version of lyx-1.1.4

2000-02-09 Thread cghan

  Hello,

The multibyte version of lyx-1.1.4 for users of Japanese, Korean and
possibly Chinese, is available at
  ftp://stone.phys.pusan.ac.kr/pub/CJK-LyX.
The compiled binary packages in the rpm format are in the
  "CJK-LyX-1.1.4-rpmbin.tar.gz",
and the source packages with the patch are in the
 "CJK-LyX-1.1.4.tar.gz".
Read the README.CJK inside the package for the installation and usage
instructions.

ChangGil Han.
