Hello, Jojo.

I notice that some file paths are in Windows style:
\viewer pdf C:\Programme\Adobe\AcroReader\Reader\AcroRd32

and some are in Unix style:
\bind_file C:/Programme/lyx13/share/lyx/bind/de_menus.bind

It may be that you have discovered a bug! What happens if you edit your
preferences file and change these forward '/' to backward '\'.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, so forgive me if I try and guess. Do
you mean that you would like LyX's menus to appear in German but currently
they appear in English? Something like the attached?

To obtain this you must set the LANG environment variable. On a unix
machine I'd input this at the command line:
$ LANG=de_DE.ISO-8859-1
$ export LANG

I've no idea how to do this under Windows ;-) (Note that the '.ISO-8859-1'
part is optional. Everything works here with LANG=de_DE.)

You also need to ensure that you have the translation file lyx.mo and that
it is installed in the right place (so that LyX can find it). You should
find it at ${PREFIX}/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/lyx.mo where $PREFIX is
the base of the path to your lyx instalation. (The LyX executable is found
at ${PREFIX}/bin/lyx on a unix machine.)

Note that I am using unix style '/' here. You would use '\' of course.

Is this the information you were looking for?

If you can't find the ${PREFIX}/share/locale/${XX}/LC_MESSAGES/lyx.mo files,
then perhaps Ruurd has not packaged them in his port of LyX to Windows? Maybe
you should ask him direct. His email address is on the Lyx for Win32 web
page http://www.home.zonnet.nl/rareitsma/lyx/

The lyx.mo files can indeed be autogenerated, but that requires you to have
the necessary tools installed on your machine. It may be easier if you ask a
German user of lyx 1.3.2 to post you his/her copy of de/LC_MESSAGES/lyx.mo
privately.

Angus
