In book, the default is to number
subscripted by chapter -- i.e., first eqn is chapter 1 is (1.1), first one
in chapter 2 is (2.1), etc. Parts are different.

Most of the time i just put an equation or two in between my writing, i
do using the Math display function, so i end up with a nice equation
centered in the page, b
