This is a bug in beta2 when built with Qt6. This is fixed in the
development version. See:

Missing fonts in list

2023-02-18 Thread Mark Rudolph
When I go to Document —> Settings —> Fonts, no fonts are listed in any of the
three pull down lists (Roman, Sans Serif, Typewriter).

I’m using the following version for the ARM chip on an M2 computer.

Version 2.4.0-beta2
(December 11, 2022)

Qt Version (run-time): 6.4.1 on platform cocoa
Qt Version (compile-time): 6.4.1
OS Version (run-time): macOS 13.2
Python detected: python3 -tt

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you,

Mark R.

Seems to be a followup of the font bug, so try to solve this first.

#! usb/bin/sh
lyx --export html FILENAME.lyx
lyx --export pdf FILENAME.lyx

Untested!!

Or bind a key to "command sequence export pdf2; export html"

Why not

* uninstall the tth package and locally install tth and reconfigure LyX, or

* give the correct path to a locally installed tth in Tools>Settings> ...
  Converters?

Seems to be a followup of the font bug, so try to solve this first.

missing fonts on ubuntu?

2009-02-20 Thread Travis
Hello all,

I realize this may not be a lyx question per se, but I could use some
help.

I used LaTeX natively a few years back, but I've forgotten most of it.
I always had to refer to a book I had every time I wrote something
anyway.

I'm very happy with lyx, but I'm trying to publish a book online and
running into some problems. For the interested, my book is here:

http://www.subspacefield.org/security/security_concepts.html

Style and content comments are very welcome.

First, be aware that though I use lyx interactively to edit the
document, I want to be able to generate the PDF and HTML versions from
a script. Basically I don't want to have to remember to export twice
every time I make an update.

Besides, it turns out that my lyx file actually tickles a bug in older
versions of tth. The author has fixed the bug, and the latest version
works fine. However, this is not the version installed in the normal
place on Ubuntu. I considered updating the Debian package, but after
looking at how much was involved in becoming a package maintainer I
was put off.

So basically I have to do it by hand; I call lyx to export in LaTeX,
and then I call tth on the results.

The problem I have is that in both the PDF and HTML version, the table
of contents isn't being updated.

I went back to try to call latex on the tex file, thinking that would
regenerate the ToC (which is noticably out of date), but latex
complains about missing fonts (see output below).

I have called texhash as root with no change.

Can anyone help me figure out a better way to do all this, or how to
fix the specific problem? I'm a little lost in all the cooperating
files and programs here.

Try reinstalling the Bakoma4LyX fonts. You can download them at

lmodern, ae and missing fonts

2005-06-15 Thread Martijn Brouwer
Hi,
I have finished my PhD thesis (Many thanks to all contributers to LyX).
When I went with my postscript file to the printer we found that the
resolution of the fonts was too small.

It turned out that I had the standard EC bitmap fonts with a resolution
of 600dpi.

After a day playing with latex and dvips I have now five versions of my
thesis:
1) With low resolution bitmap fonts
2) With higher resolution bitmap fonts (by defining another printer for
dvips)
3) With scalable CM (bluesky) fonts. For this I had to swith off T1
encoding
4) With scalable CM fonts and T1 encoding using the ae package
5) With scalable lmodern fonts

I have a few questions:
With Version 3-5, I cannot use large, bold, smallcaps font. Latex uses
the default font instead. I have worked around it by switching to large
small caps. Is there a way to get this combination of font attributes?

- Am I correct when I say that lmodern is to EC fonts what bluesky is to
CM?
- Why is ae considered bad? Because it is a pseudofont that performs
tricks to make accented glyphs?

I have concluded that lmfonts are the way to go. I only found this after
nearly a day searching internet, an experimentning. I think that LyX
should automatically load lmodern whan T1 encoding is used and the fonts
are available.

FWIW I wound up reinstalling my system because I was beginning to have
problems with data corruption on the root partition. I don't know what the
source of that is though. The fonts now are no problem, so the two may be
related... :(

Thanks for the input, Dekel.

Export the file to DVI format.
 Run dvips -o file.ps file.dvi.
What (error) messages do you get ?
Also, does XDVI show the file correctly ?
