I'd like to know how can I substitute the english
words that Lyx automatically put on my dvi or pdf
files (like Contents, October 16, 2005 and so
forth...) by another words at the same meaning but in
different tongues, once I write the most docs on
portuguese or spanish -- and

What you in fact need to do is ensure that any of the items that are in
the wrong language. Select everything that needs to be in Portueguese
and go to Edit Text Style.
I did it already before, but the dvi and pdf is
using english yet. :(
Do you have correct install of babel package of LaTeX? At View - LaTeX Log,
you should find lines such as
(/usr/local/share/texmf-dist/tex/generic/babel/babel.sty
Package: babel 2004/11/20 v3.8d The Babel package

a manu called 'Edit-Text Style'! Which Lyx version is
