Re: PDF will not reload

2011-10-21 Thread Miguel Peinado
Problems like Josep has are caused by non ASCII characters (notice the "í") in
the path used by Lyx. Lyx isn't able to open any of the viewers (no PS, no DIV,
no PDF). Not easy to identify...even less easy to solve.

Also sometimes acrobat reader opens but doesn't load lyx documents. Try to
change the pdf converter (Tools>Preferences>File handling>file format>Default
output format) to other than pdflatex..ps2pdf works fine with me.

Hope it's useful

I am using the same system configuration as Josep and have the same problem
since the first versions of Lyx 2.0. I am still using Lyx 1.6 so far.

Please fix it soon ! :)

Kind regards,
Mariano.

I've used IObit to Uninstall all Adobe and related PDF software(Foxit...)
Uninstall Lyx using IObit.
Clean the register with Execute>regedit
Searching and deleting all Adobe and Lyx entries.
After reboot the computer I've installed Lyx 2.0.
Reboot.
And finally it works!

Good luck

Hello, since I downloaded LyX 2.0 I can't open the PDF and I get an error
message "No PDF Viewer is installed...". From the download does not open the PDF
in the earlier version of Lyx, I worked with no problems so far. I'm working
with Windows XP SP3.
I can advise what to do.

I personally use the lightweight pdf viewer Skim [0] which auto-reloads pdfs,
supports LyX' output syncing (from pdf to LyX) and more. Alternatively MacOSX
default viewer 'Preview' does also reload pdfs when updated by LyX (you have to
give it the focus though).

I'd like to know the same thing. Except I'm encountering this issue under
Mac OS X. After changing the document I use the View PDF (pdflatex) option.
If I have a version of the PDF open in Adobe Reader already then I do NOT
see the newer version.

My workaround is to close the Adobe Reader window (or close Reader entirely)
before viewing the updated PDF version.

I am, as far as I can tell, running the latest version of Reader (10.0.3)
and definitely the latest version of OS X Snow Leopard Server, which I'm
using from a user level account. And my copy of LyX is 2.0.0 (29 April 2011
build). I have MacTex installed (latest available from CTAN).

Regards, Trevor.

It works fine for me with the same setup, Windows 7 + Adobe Reader 10.0.1.

Do I understand correctly that the "View PDF" button works but "Update PDF"
does not? When happens when you click Update?

I didn't know you had made a module specially for this issue. I still prefer
Sumatra for previewing as it is far much lighter.

Thx for the tip, though.

Strange, because I can do this with Adobe Reader 10.1 and LyX 2.0.0 under Win7
without problems.

I'm using Lyx 2.0 and acrobat reader 10.0.1 on windows
7. Could this have something to do with the default security
settings in this version of acrobat? The problem also
exists with PDF-XChange PDF Viewer and the developers of
that reader explained that it locks files while they are
open and prevents being written to.

Yes, that's why we created a program to close/reopen Adobe Reader automatically.

Joost, do you have an idea why this doesn't work for Hafney?

Hi Uwe. Thanks for your reply. I did as you suggested,
and although I can still write to a pdf once, I still also
cannot update the pdf to reflect subsequent changes to my
file. I'm using Lyx 2.0 and acrobat reader 10.0.1 on windows

exists with PDF-XChange PDF Viewer and the developers of

open and prevents being written to. However, Sumatra works
perfectly.

Thanks.

This should be fixed with LyX 2.0. But you need the latest Adobe Reader for this: Adobe Reader X
(after installing it, install also the provided updates).
If this doesn't work for you, please uninstall LyX 2.0.0 with its user settings and reinstall it
afterwards using the latest Windows installer you find at our homepage.

PDF will not reload

2011-05-17 Thread Hafney
Hi,

I'm at the end of my rope with adobe acrobat. I'm using adobe acrobat reader
10. I can successfully generate a pdf but I cannot update the pdf after I
make changes to my .lyx document. How do I fix this? (I'm using windows).
I read some speculation that this could be a bug in adobe but that
Lyx 2.0 solved the problem. But I just installed Lyx 2.0 and the
problem persists. I read http://wiki.lyx.org/FAQ/PDF (near bottom) but
still cannot solve my problem. I've now abandoned adobe all together and
am using Sumatra (as advised in the wiki entry.)

Could I fix this problem with acrobat?

Or did I make the right choice by dumping it?

If that was the right choice, what is the best pdf viewer to use with Lyx?
Any guidance will be much appreciated. Thanks.
