Beamer uses babel to do the translations (I think). I suspect this is a
bug in beamer (failure to flag the "Example" heading for translation?),
but I don't know enough about babel to know. It would probably be a
good idea if you reported this to Till Tantau, the author of the beamer
package.

Meanwhile, as a workaround, you can put the following two lines in the
preamble of your LyX document (perhaps create a new template containing
the lines, so that you do not have to retype them each time):

\newtheorem{exa}[theorem]{Beispiel}
\renewenvironment{example}{\begin{exa}}{\end{exa}}

(Credit where credit is due: I "liberated" this from the wiki at
http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/I18nLabels.) If you want a period after
"Beispiel", you will need to put one in the first line (inside the
closing brace). If you also use the beamer "Examples" environment,
repeat the two lines above but in the second pair change "Beispiel" to
"Beispiele", change "exa" to something else (say "exas"), and change
"example" to "examples".

I use lyx and latex-beamer to generate my presentations. In lyx I can chose
"Beispiel" to generate an example (In the lyx screen there it is called
"Beispiel" in green color, but in the generated pdf it's called Example.

As workaround I export the created file to latex, and replaxe then every
