It is a basic question :-).
Use Ctrl+m to switch to in-line math. Use Ctrl+Shift+m to switch to displayed
math.
Use the following sequences:
* Ctrl+m [switches to math]
* \lim + space + Shift+_ + x + \rightarrow + space + 0 + space + f + Alt+(
+ x + space
* Space [a final space
Why not simply enter it inline in math mode?
