("I have searched on google as > well") http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/custom-bib/ It is a command line program so you have to start it in a terminal in Windows. It will then ask you a myriad of questions and then spit a bst file. It is long and tedious and not very user friendly. Then you will have to put the bst file in a place where LaTeX can find it, renew the LaTeX index and normally you will be able to choose the style from LyX I guess you already have custom-bib in your latex distribution somewhere on your hard disk. > The other option that you told was suppress the natbib option (Under > Document Settings in LYX, and choose Default or JURABIB? Cheers, Charles Charles, I've hear about the custom-bib but I was not able to find how to do it under Windows, is it possible? ("I have searched on google as well") I tried to use a java software called BIB-IT to create my own style too, but it has a lot of bugs and is not working well. If I could use the custom-bib would be perfect. The other option that you told was suppress the natbib option (Under Document Settings in LYX, and choose Default or JURABIB? That is what you mean?) And what about the Plain Bibtex that you said? Do you mean the "plain" style ? (If I do this I will lose how the information is shown under Bibliography, :-( ) Cheers, Marcelo

A quick lokk at your problem seems to reveal that natbib is not compatible with apalike or apalike2. Either you suppress the natbib option and get back to plain bibtex but the formatting of the citation in the bibliography, either you create your own style for natbib with the package custom-bib. Thanks Marcelo

Have you read the LyX wiki : http://wiki.lyx.org/BibTeX/BibTeX I would also strongly recommend reading a good introduction to managing citations in LaTeX like chapter 12 and 13 of the LaTeX Companion (maybe it is translated in Portuguese). Finally, like another poster said in the thread, without some example files, we cannot help you. Cheers, Charles -- http://www.kde-france.org

Hi Marcelo! Could you create an example file that illustrates the problem and post it here? (e.g. using a service like pastebin.com) Cheers, Kosta

Don't worry. Bibliographies can be very frustrating and hard to debug. You should give more details. Are you using natbib, jurabib, biblatex ? and a small file with a small bib file. It seems to me that what you want to achieve can be done with natbib. I don't know very well natbib but look the documentation or wait that somebody on the list with more knowledge answers. Cheers, Charles /Yes, Maybe I should try another way but since I spend a lot of time using JabRef, creating the Bib Files and other things I was trying first to solve this frustrating issue :-( Hope some one give me an idea.
