Thanks - I found the package "fixfoot" (http://tug.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/fixfoot/), but when I use it in LyX, the footnote appears as often as the defined fixed footnote is used on the page. I use \usepackage{fixfoot} \DeclareFixedFootnote{\Test}{This is a test!} in the preamble, and in the text \Test in an ERT box. I assume it is because more then one run of LaTeX is needed for fixfoot. Yes, the documentation says "LaTeX needs to be run several times". If LyX isn't doing that, then you'll have to export to LaTeX and do it manually. Or else define some new converter, but that's overkill at the moment. Any ideas on how I can achieve this or is there another package I did not find? Try this one: http://tug.ctan.org/cgi-bin/ctanPackageInformation.py?id=savefnmark. rh
