Also this

As shipped, the default setting for the Retro-Printer is to expect 8 bit
data - however, some equipment only sends 7 bit data (and the 8th bit can
be quite temperamental).
Changing the bit_depth parameter for the Retro-Printer Module will address
this

Adapter was made because there was a board error on the original board. So
this adapter fixes whatever was wrong. I'll see if I can get the details
for you.. If it turns out to be the adapter I could probably get it
replaced for you if need be or repaired.

Re: [M100] Tandy TPDD-1 Drive

2024-01-11 Thread Gregory McGill
I have the disks in my store at arcadeshopper.com
alternatively if you have a device that can write to a 3.5" floppy and a
720k disk that's actually blank. you can write your own with the info here:
https://github.com/Jeff-Birt/TRS-80-TPDD-Images
or this will write to one with the serial cable from your pc and your drive
https://github.com/bkw777/pdd.sh

Re: [M100] file transfer

2023-09-28 Thread Gregory McGill
in windows you go into device manager and com ports and find the port
there, likely the device drive will load from microsoft unless your adapter
is bootlegged

in linux you either dmesg and find the device it's assigned too when it is
connected or ls -la /dev/ttyUSB* and you will see the usb serial ports
likely the only one there is the one you just plugged in

imho I prefer https://a.co/d/0SWmSd3 for my usb adapters for hooking up
retro stuff.. just works.. no issues with drivers and has cool lights to
see what's working

I couldn't resist a recent M100 on ebay listed as "not working". The
main issue was a dead contrast pot, which I have temporarily worked around
 and ordered a hacky replacement.

The polarizing film is also very bubbly and no amount of smoothing made
it stay flat on the LCD. Is there a known replacement for the film?

Most importantly, I noticed about a half dozen non-functional keys.
After disassembly I discovered corrosion on their diodes. Upon closer
 "inspection", said diodes disintegrated.

So my second question is: Is there a particular diode I should replace
them with? I have tons of 1N4148s, which look like a match (and
electrically drop about the same voltage), but I can't find a spec for
those diodes on the m100 schematics.

 Thanks

What are the odds that any of these BBSes would allow dialing in from a
 real phone line?

There is a Commodore 64 BBS out there called BorderlineBBS that has a
 hybrid Telnet/Dial-Up interface.

I managed to use the acoustic couplers to dial in once from the Model
T, but ever since switching to VOIP I wasn’t able to get it to work.

I really always loved BBSing, so I would be in full support of using a
 Model T focused BBS.

[M100] mcomm for android

2022-11-16 Thread Gregory McGill
The new version has been posted to
http://www.club100.org/memfiles/index.php?direction===Kurt%20McCullum/mComm%20Android;

ver 196 now supports newer versions of android and works properly

note: filenames must be valid model 100 filenames, so i had to rename files
called FILE.100 to FILE.DO to work, if they aren't valid the 100 will not
transfer and get stuck and a reset is required.. (in ts-dos)

any text ascii printer with a serial or centronics parallel interface

nothing modern will work directly unless it specifically says DOS
support.. the m100 sends no codes no protocols. just ascii text

I have a pi hat in my store that emulates a dos printer on the pi and
outputs PDF files that you can print on the pi or your pc with a modern
printer

yeah there are two batteries like the 100/102/200 but the internal hooge
nicad is 4D cells.. I posted pictures back a ways.. there's a varta-like on
the main board for memory backup as well.. and they probably should both be
replaced
I paid too much for a new nimh battery pack for the big one and used the
same replacement battery for the memory one as i use in the 100/102etc
